Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. Long ago, there lived a young man named Thamer with his ailing mother in a small house on the outskirts of the city. One day, her illness worsened. Thamer went to fetch a doctor, who told him that his mother's illness was unfamiliar to him and he knew of no cure. However, he would prescribe some herbs to alleviate the pain. He had never encountered such an illness before. The young man was deeply saddened, for he loved his mother dearly and feared for her well-being, as she was his only family in the world. In the morning, his neighbor Fatima came to visit his mother and asked Thamer about her condition. He told her what the doctor had said, and she suggested he consult an old man with extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs who could potentially help him. The young man mounted his horse and rode swiftly to the old man's house. Upon arriving, he found him sitting under a tree in front of his home. The young man dismounted and sat beside him. The old man asked, "What troubles you, my son?" So he told him his story and informed him of his mother's illness, which the doctors were unable to cure. The old man said, "Unfortunately, my son, this is a strange disease, and the herbs I have are not suitable for it." The young man wept and despair overwhelmed him. The old man placed his hand on his shoulder and said, "Do not weep, my son, for there is one place where you can find your cure." The young man looked at him eagerly and said, " Tell me where it is, and I will go there now." The old man said, "Do not be hasty, my son, for the place is far and fraught with danger." The young man said, "I will go to it even if it is at the ends of the earth." The old man said, "This place is the land of the jinn, and it takes more than a month to reach it, and you will not be able to reach them alone." The young man was shocked and bewildered, and he was overcome with confusion and thought, unable to comprehend the old man's words. The old man said to the young man, "Unfortunately, my son, only the jinn can describe these strange diseases and find a cure for them, and all of this is by the will of God, but they possess knowledge and power over matters beyond the reach of humans." The young man asked, "And who will help me reach them?" The old man said, "There is a princess who lives in a palace near their land, and if you reach her, she will help you reach them, for she knows much about them and their secrets, and I have learned that they love her." They approached her, and the old man described the route to the young man, explaining how he would reach the princess's palace. The young man bid the old man farewell and returned home. Upon arriving, he told his neighbor, Fatima, what had happened. She asked him what he would do. He replied, "I will go and get the medicine." She said, "But it is very difficult, and I fear something bad will happen to you." He responded, "There is nothing in the world more difficult than watching my mother suffer before my eyes and being unable to do anything for her. I will go and get the medicine, even if it costs me my life. It is easier for me to die than to remain helpless in the face of my mother's illness and pain. But I ask you to stay by her side until I return. I will never forget your kindness. Don't tell her anything so she won't be upset with me. Tell her I am traveling for work and will return soon." Thamer gathered his belongings, mounted his horse, and set off, traveling across the desert, passing through mountains, valleys, and rivers. He would stop for a while to rest with his horse and eat. He was lost in thought, not knowing what fate held for him, whether he would be able to reach the medicine, or whether he would end up far away and never return to his mother. But the image of his mother never left him, and it was his motivation. To reach his goal, no matter what, after days of travel, the horse grew tired and could no longer run. Food and water ran out, so he dismounted and walked beside it. He was nearing the place the old man had described, but hunger and exhaustion had taken hold of both him and his horse. While in this state, he looked into the distance as night approached and saw lights shining in the distance. He pulled his horse forward, composed himself, and went towards the light. When he arrived, he saw a castle of extraordinary beauty, the likes of which he had never seen before. Thamer headed towards the castle, hoping to find food and water for his horse. He went to the stable and placed food and water for his horse. Once he was sure his horse was safe, he entered the castle and began wandering its corridors, searching for anyone. He passed a room with a very large table laden with the most delicious kinds of food and drink. Overwhelmed by hunger, he couldn't control himself and sat down to eat. Seeing no one to ask permission from, he sat at the table and began to eat whatever he desired. He ate until he was full and drank until he was quenched. After he finished eating, he found a woman An ugly old woman with a frightening appearance stood before him, and he was astonished. She said to him, “Do not be afraid. I am the princess of this palace, and a group of jinn have bewitched me because I refused to marry them. I am a beautiful girl, and this is not how I look. I want to ask you for a favor.” He said to her, “What do you want?” She told him, "I want you to stay with me in the palace tonight." The young man refused, saying, "I can't. I don't trust you or this place." She replied, "Don't be afraid. No one will harm you. Come with me." She took him to her luxurious room, where there was a picture of a beautiful girl. She said, "This is my picture." He told her she was very beautiful and asked, "Are you the princess who lives near the land of the jinn?" She replied, "Yes, I am." He said, "I have come from a distant land to find you. My mother has a strange illness, and there is no cure for it except in the land of the jinn. I have come to you for help." She said, "I will help you, but you must stay with me tonight. The spell that has afflicted me cannot be broken unless a young man spends a whole night with me." The young man agreed, his fear vanished, and he stayed with her in the palace that night. In the morning , when he awoke, he found the princess. Her curse had been broken, the spell lifted, and she appeared much more beautiful than in the picture. She said to the young man, "Thank you for staying with me and helping me." The young man said, " I need medicine for my mother. Please help me as I helped you." She replied, "I will show you the way." To the prince of the jinn, but I will not go with you, for he is the one who bewitched me into this ugly image because I refused to marry him. He said to her, “Will he give me what I want?” She said, “I am not sure, but you should try, and then we will think about it.” The princess described the way to the young man and said to him, “I will send one of my men with you, and he will wait for you far away. If anything bad happens to you, I will not leave you, and I will come to rescue you immediately.” Thamer mounted his horse , accompanied by the princess's guard. They rode together through the desert until they reached a high mountain. The guard told him, "I will wait for you here and watch you from afar. They are sitting behind this mountain." Thamer moved alone until he crossed the mountain and saw three figures sitting far away. As he approached them, he found their appearance frightening. He saw a pot of boiling soup with no fire underneath it, and he saw them playing and laughing. He approached them, afraid. When he reached them, one of them said to the other, "Who is this man? He seems strange." The prince stood up, approached him, smelled his scent, and looked at him angrily. He said, "Are you the one who stayed with the princess last night?" The young man was shocked by his words and said, "No, I am not." The genie laughed mockingly. He said, "Did your mind imagine that you could hide something from us? I bewitched the princess long ago, and no one has dared approach her. Are you the brave one who saved the prince?" The young man trembled, and great fear was evident on his face. The prince said to his companion, "What should I do with him? Should I kill him?" One of them said, "It would suffice to cast a curse upon him that would make him sleep for half a year. This would be enough time to rid ourselves of the princess and her companions." The prince replied, "Yes, that is enough." Then he turned towards the terrified young man, raised his hand, and looked him hard into the eyes. The young man fell to the ground and fell into a deep sleep. The guard, who had witnessed what happened from behind the mountain, hurried back to the princess and told her what had transpired. She grieved for the young man and felt guilty, for she was the cause of his suffering. She gathered her soldiers and waited until nightfall. She went to the young man and found him sleeping motionless. The jinn had left the place, so she ordered her soldiers to carry him back to the palace. The princess tried every possible way to wake him, but he would not stir. In the morning, the princess went to the genie prince and asked him what he had done to the young man. He told her, “I cast a spell on him that will make him sleep for half a year, so that he may be a lesson to anyone who tries to approach you. No one will be able to wake him up before this period.” The princess begged him to wake him up, saying, “He is innocent. He came to look for medicine for his mother, and I am the one who made him stay with me.” He told her, “I will return him on the condition that you agree to marry me.” She said to him, “I will, but only after you wake him up from his sleep.” So the genie went to the young man and woke him up from his sleep. Then he took him by the hand outside the palace and raised his hands. A stormy wind arose, and he commanded the wind to carry him to a distant land so that he would not return again. Indeed, in a single moment, the young man disappeared from his sight. The princess cried out, “What have you done?” She screamed at the genie, who told her, "I sent him to a great kingdom of the genies, and there he can look for a cure for his mother and not return here again." The princess became angry with the genie and left him and entered her palace. As for Thamer, he found himself in a strange land on the shore of a sea whose water was red. Thamer was amazed by the place and kept walking to look for anyone in this place. He saw a hut in the distance, so he hurried towards it and entered. He found an old woman sitting inside the hut, so he asked her for food, as he was overcome by hunger and thirst and had nothing with him. She told him to sit down, so he sat down. The old woman clapped both her hands, and suddenly a table with a plate of food appeared before Thamer. He was astonished by what happened and said to her, "Are you a genie?" She told him, "More than that, but eat your food first." Thamer ate until he was full and drank until he was quenched. When he finished his food, the old woman clapped again, and the food disappeared as if it had never been. The old woman asked him, "Who are you, and what brought you to this place?" He told her his whole story, and the old woman smiled at him and said, “I admire you very much, and I will bring you the medicine you want. Your love for your mother and your kindness to her made me appreciate and respect you, and your difficult journey to find medicine for her made me sympathize with you. You deserve all the best. Wait, and I will bring you the medicine.” The old woman brought some herbs and gave them to the young man, saying, "These herbs are rare and, God willing, cure all strange diseases. But tell me, how will you get back?" He replied, " I don't know where we are or how I will return." She told him, "This land is very far away, and it will take years to return to your land." He asked, "What will I do?" She said, "Come with me," and led him out of the hut. She said, "Take this path, and you will find the house of three boys whose father died a few days ago. He was a great sorcerer among the jinn. Go to them and use your mind, for their father left them a magic carpet, a hat, and magic shoes. If you can get the carpet, it will fly you anywhere in moments." Thamer thanked her for what she had done for him, took the herbs, and left. When he arrived at the house, he found the three boys fighting, each holding one of the three things the old woman had told him about. He approached them and asked, "What's wrong? Why are you fighting?" One of them replied that their father had died a few days ago and left them these things, and each of them was dissatisfied with what he had and wanted what his brother had. He looked around, hoping to find something that would be a solution. He found a coconut tree far away and said to them, "I have a solution. Do you see this tree?" They said, "Yes." He said to them, "You will race each other. Whoever reaches this tree first takes the rug, whoever reaches it second gets to choose what's left of the hat and shoes, and the last one has to accept the last thing." They agreed to this solution and prepared to run. When They ran off, and before they reached the tree, Thamer took the magic carpet, mounted it, and commanded it to fly quickly. He took the hat and the shoes with him. The carpet flew high, and Thamer ordered it to take him to the princess's palace to rescue her from the genie and take her back to his land. The young man arrived at the princess's palace and found genie guards standing at the gate. He put on the magic hat and grabbed the shoes, disappearing into the air. He entered the palace and found the princess sitting on her bed, weeping. He took off the hat and appeared before her. She was astonished and overjoyed to see him. She asked how he had reached her, and he replied, "There's no time. Let's escape from here." He put the magic shoes on her, and she vanished. He put on the hat, and they left together without anyone noticing. He mounted the carpet and flew away. Thamer asked her what had happened, and she replied, "I promised the genie I would marry him, and he gave me three days to prepare. This was the last day, and thank God you arrived just in time." Thamer arrived home and went to his sick mother and kissed her. He took her hand and apologized for his absence. She asked him, "Where have you been, my son? How could you leave me for so long?" He replied, " I brought you the medicine." He sat her down, gave her the medicine, and she fell asleep. When she awoke, she found herself standing on her feet, her health restored and her illness cured. She hugged her son, weeping, and said, "Thank God, my health is back, my son!" He told her, "You must thank this princess. She helped me find the medicine, and I will marry her. She will live with us here." The mother was overjoyed and embraced the princess, saying, "From today, you are like my own daughter." A few days later, Thamer married the princess, and she lived happily ever after in his home. One day, Thamer sat with his wife under a tree in front of their house. She asked him, "Have you ever thought about the three boys whose rug you took?" He looked at her for a long time; something in his heart broke. He said, "I was greedy, but this hurts me deeply. I deceived them, and I'm not proud of it." The princess shook her head and looked up at the sky. "He who takes what belongs to another will one day pay the price," she said. "You must return what you took to them." He replied, "Yes, I am thinking about it, and I promise I will." At the same time, the three boys were sitting in front of their father's house , shouting at each other, each accusing the other of being the reason for the loss of their father's inheritance. The eldest brother said, "If it weren't for our greed and our disagreements, this young man wouldn't have deceived us." The youngest said, " We can't just stand idly by. Let's follow his tracks to find out where he came from." So the boys got up and went together to follow his footprints in the sand until they reached the old woman's hut. They knocked on the door, and when she opened it, they asked her about the young man. The old woman grew anxious, for she knew the story. She told them she didn't know him; he was a traveler seeking food and drink, but she knew nothing of his whereabouts. The boys returned, overcome with despair. As for the genie, upon learning of the princess's escape, his anger intensified towards the young man who had helped her flee. He wondered how he had returned from the distant land of the genies and how he had managed to enter the princess's quarters despite the palace's tight security. He vowed to his companions, "I will make their lives a torment, and I will exact the most severe revenge upon them. I will bring her back to the palace before dawn." That night, strange things began to occur in Thamer's house. Windows opened and closed by themselves, and strange sounds were heard within. The princess awoke with a start and cried out to Thamer, "Strange things are happening in the house, and I feel a dark aura approaching us. I know it well!" Thamer immediately rose. "What do you mean?" the princess whispered. "It is the genie prince. He has returned." Thamer stood, gripped by fear, for he had heard and seen what was happening. He quickly grasped his sword, realizing that danger was imminent. He looked at his wife and found her trembling, frozen in place. He looked at her limbs, then heard a voice like thunder from behind the house. "Human, do you think your escape from me will continue? Do you think stealing the princess will go unpunished?" Thamer went outside and saw the genie prince standing by a tall tree, his eyes blazing with angry fire. Despite his fear, Thamer stood and said, "Stay away from her. You will not take the princess again." The genie laughed with a bone-piercing laugh and said, "I did not come to talk, but to take revenge." He raised his arm, and black shadows emerged from the ground like waves moving in a whirlpool. They attacked Thamer and bound him as if with living chains. Thamer screamed as he struggled, but his strength had collapsed. The princess came running out of the house toward her husband. "Please stop and let Thamer go!" The genie advanced toward her and grabbed her hand harshly. "This time you will not escape me," he said. Before she could scream, she and the genie disappeared into a black whirlpool, and Thamer fell to the ground, watching his wife being pulled from his grasp, powerless to do anything. In the morning, Thamer went to his mother and told her what had happened. What happened was that he was weeping over his wife's departure and his helplessness. His mother placed her hand on his shoulder and said, "Don't cry, my son. Everything can be restored. But first, you must return what is rightfully theirs so that your own rights may be restored. Begin your journey by returning what you took from the three boys. From this path, new doors will open, helping you reach your wife and rescue her from the jinn. Rid yourself of your sins, my son, and draw closer to God, for He alone can protect you from these evils." Thamer felt remorse and said to his mother, "I will not go to rescue my wife before I return what I took from the boys." Thamer went and fetched the magic carpet, mounted it, took the hat and shoes with him, and commanded the carpet to take him to the land of the boys. The carpet flew high into the sky and sped towards In the land of the jinn, Thamer quickly arrived at the house of the three boys. They were sitting in front of their home. He dismounted from the rug and approached them. They stood looking at him in astonishment. Thamer spoke to them and apologized for what he had done, saying, "I had no choice. My mother was ill, and I had to return to her quickly. I was afraid to tell you, lest you refuse to help me." Their leader said, " We searched for you extensively, but it seems you are not as bad as we thought. Please, sit down and rest, and we will take you back to your land on the rug." Thamer replied, "I want to go to the old woman's hut first. I have something important to do, and I need her help." They said, "Come with me. We will go with you and will not leave you until you return to your land. Without the rug, you will not be able to return." They went together to the old woman's hut, and Thamer sat before her. She said, "I knew you would return. Tell me what happened." He told her what had happened and that the prince of the jinn had kidnapped his wife. She said, "You will not be able to get her back easily. You must defeat this jinn so that he does not return to you again, and this is very difficult." His palace is far from here. One of the boys said, " We can go with him on the magic carpet and help him reach the palace." The old woman replied, "It's not about reaching the palace, but about entering it and freeing the princess." Then the old woman clapped her hands, and a round, transparent magic bottle appeared before her. The old woman raised her hand and spoke incomprehensibly, and the palace appeared before her, surrounded by a black halo. The princess appeared, imprisoned inside a dark room, her hands bound. The old woman said, "I can help you enter the palace, and I will give you this bottle. It will enable you to cross the black halo, but you must be careful, for this is the prince of the jinn, not a weak jinn. If he gets hold of you, I don't know what he will do." Thamer said, "Don't be afraid. I will enter alone, and I will be able to save her." Thamer took the bottle from the old woman and went with the boys to their house. They all rode on the magic carpet, and it flew high above them. They commanded the carpet to take them to the prince of the jinn's palace. At that moment, the jinn entered the princess's dark room. She was bound, and the jinn said to her, "This time you will not..." "Run away! I will make you the queen of all the jinn, whether you like it or not!" She looked at him angrily and said, "I will never marry you, no matter what you do." The jinn laughed mockingly and said to her, "You must think: either marry me or stay here until you die." Then he left her and went out. Thamer arrived with the three boys near the palace and said to them, " I will go in alone, so I will not put you in danger with me. Wait for me here until I return." Thamer moved alone towards the palace, and when he reached it, he was carrying the bottle in a cloth bag. When he was about to take it out, the bag fell from his hand, and the jinn appeared before him with anger on his face and said to Thamer, " I knew you would come, and I have been waiting for you since morning until you reached here. I know that you have three boys waiting for you far away." Thamer said to him, "I want my wife. She loves me and does not want to live with you, and she has refused to marry you many times." The jinn laughed mockingly and said to him, "Are you crazy, boy? Can you take something against my will?" You are a weak human and cannot face me. I could kill you in an instant, but I won't. I enjoy playing with you, and the princess would be furious if she knew I killed you. Listen, boy, this is the last time I want to see you. I will send you to a faraway land so you can think about your actions and come to your senses. If you return here again, I will kill you without mercy. As for the three boys who help you with their toys, I will go to them after I am finished with you. Thamer turned around and tried to reach the bottle, but the genie raised his arms, and a strong wind swept Thamer away into the sky. Then he went to the three boys and found them sitting under a tree. When they saw him, they froze in place and couldn't speak. He said to them, "You are just little children, and I will not punish you harshly. I will simply take your beautiful toys that you use to help me , and I will let you leave on foot. You can either live or die." He shouted at them, "Go!" So they ran quickly and left. Their rug, shoes, and hat lay on the ground as they fled. The genie seized them and returned to his palace, bringing them before the princess. He told her, "Your beloved has flown away and will never return. These things that helped him find his way back are now mine." He laughed mockingly as the princess looked at him sadly and wept. Meanwhile, Thamer found himself in a vast desert with no beginning and no end, devoid of people or animals. He went to a tree and sat beneath it, grieving and weeping. Then he raised his hands to the sky and said, "O Lord, I have no recourse and no control over my fate. O Lord, You are the protector of every weak and oppressed person. O Lord, if I have sinned, forgive me, stand by me, and save me from my predicament. If I went to the land of the genies, it was for my mother's sake. O God, return me to her and save my wife from this arrogant genie, for You are capable of all things." Thamer continued to pray and weep until he fell asleep. While he slept, he saw an old man with a white beard standing before him, smiling. The old man said to him, "Do not be afraid, Thamer. You are a good young man." And thanks to your mother's blessings, you will be saved from your predicament. Take this ring and wear it on your hand. When you rub it, it will transport you to any place you desire. Go to the palace of the arrogant genie and raise this ring in his face, saying, "In the name of God, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing." Then recite the Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi). I will tell you some other verses to recite during this time. Confront him, stand firm, and do not fear. You will defeat him by God's will and return to your mother. Thamer awoke from his sleep and looked around, finding no one. He looked at his hand and found a green ring radiating a beautiful light. He wondered, "Is this a dream or reality?" He rubbed the ring against his hand and, in the blink of an eye, found himself before the genie's palace. He entered the palace, walking with firm and strong steps, searching for the genie until he found him standing in the palace courtyard. His features had changed, and fear was evident on his face. He had gathered a large number of his followers around him. Thamer held the ring up to him and said, "In the name of God, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm." The genies around him began to disappear one by one and flee. The genie, however, began to advance with faltering and unsteady steps. Thamer began reciting the Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi), and with each word he recited, the genie would tremble, scream, and smash anything nearby. His clothes fell off, and he fell to his knees, shouting, "Silence! Don't speak! I will kill you!" But Thamer did not... He listened to him and continued reading. The ring emitted a green light, like a fire burning the genie. He fell to the ground, and thick black smoke began to rise from him until it was gone, vanishing completely. His body transformed into rising smoke. When Thamer learned that the genie was dead, he hurried to find the princess's room. He found her running out, her bonds broken by the genie's death. She embraced her husband, overjoyed. He said to her, "Let's quickly search for the three boys." They hurried to look for them, running left and right, but couldn't find them. The princess said, " The genie took their belongings. I saw them with him. Let's return to the palace; these things might help us find them." So he returned with her to the palace, and they searched the genie's room until they found them. They mounted the magic carpet and ordered it to take them to the three boys. The carpet flew them until they reached them. They found them walking in the desert, exhausted. He went towards them and called out, "Don't be afraid! The genie is dead!" The boys rejoiced and were overjoyed by the news, feeling safe after being gripped by terror. Fear gripped them, and they sat together on the carpet. He took them back to their home. When they arrived, the young men rejoiced at the young man and said to him, "You have saved us from death, for we were surely doomed." He replied, "Praise be to God who has saved us all from our predicament." Then he asked them for the carpet so he could return it to his mother, promising to give it back to them. They said to him, "This is a gift from us to you, for you deserve all good things. Take it and do not return it. The hat and the shoes are enough for us, and we will not quarrel over them. There is no greed anymore; they will all belong to us." Then they bid each other farewell, and Thamer rode with his wife and soared into the sky, returning to his home, happy and joyful. When he arrived home, his mother greeted him with joy and happiness. He told her what had happened and said to her, "Thanks to your prayers, Mother, God saved my wife and me from death. The genie has died, and there is nothing that threatens us anymore." The moral of the story is: when all paths are blocked and doors are closed before you, know that God's door is always open.
