every time that somebody has problems with the lips we have to investigate if there are also issues with the teeth and what can we learn from assessing the teeth first when you have misalignment it is obvious that the patient will have lip asymmetry not because of the lip itself but because of the teeth patient with overbite you usually have the lower lip more recessed and occasionally more inverted another one is the opposite under bite when we have the mandible more projected than the maxilla so now the upper lip would be more recessed then if somebody that has a deep bite so when we open to see we barely can see the lower teeth the correction of the lips in a patient that presents deeper bites I would say is one of the toughest to correct and we have here also the open bite and when we have the open bite usually we have somebody that is a mouth breeder they keep the mouth always open and the upper lip is usually more for J
