You're about to see how Eli Crane hit play on one video that completely dismantled Ilhan Omar's narrative, froze the hearing room, and sent a Democrat scrambling for the exit. This, of course, comes after weeks of viral videos from a young man YouTuber who was literally creeping around daycares by himself, making claims about fraud that were not there. And then the vice president and the FBI director were retweeting these videos without even verifying if they were true. So, we're we're not accusing people of being xenophobic and racist. They are being xenophobic and racist, including the president of the United States. And I want to say for one that I stand with the Somali and the immigrant community standing here today, >> Mr. Hudson, are you just hearing from Republicans on this? Or are Democrat constituents like, "Oh my god, I'm struggling to put my kids in school, struggling to make ends meet, and my tax dollars are being robbed by people, and then they're sending it all over the place, and this is complete fraud. What is going on? And why hasn't anything been done about it?" >> I'll give you a personal example. So, my family, my in-laws in particular, are politically diverse. A lot of them vote for Democrats, and they're fairly apolitical. They're not like me all plugged in. And so I kind of use them as a bellweather for what the people are thinking. Across the board, everybody is upset about this fraud. And I'm guessing when you guys bring this up, whether it's to the Waltz administration, whether it's to the AG, the number one thing that comes back at you is you're a racist, you're a white supremacist, or you're an Islamophobe. As we've seen Governor Waltz now trying to answer for these questions, he's doing it at the national level. Are you guys do you guys hear the same thing at the state level as well? >> Yes, absolutely. That they always pivot to the divisive, as I stated in my opening statement, it's diversion, right? We're going to talk about personalities. We're going to talk about partisan politics. We're going to find some way to get people yelling at each other rather than looking at the problem. >> Or like you've heard my colleagues do on this panel, it's Donald Trump, baby. Yep. >> It's all about Donald Trump, right? The the old pivot. We're not going to talk about what's going on in Somalia and what's or not going to talk about what's going on in Minnesota with this massive fraud scandal. We're going to talk about Donald Trump. With my remaining seconds, can we play the video I have? Mr. Chairman 10 million meals act. The pandemic and I for Ramadan. One thing that is so alarming is the reporting that many of these fraudulent companies are then donating the stolen money back to the same Democrats that are protecting them and advocate for these very programs. Is is that correct, Mr. Hudson? >> I would agree with that statement. >> Well, we just had one of my Democrat colleagues said, "These are just opinions." Do you know are are these guys donating money back to Democrats? >> Yes, they are. >> I'd like to enter into the record, Mr. Chairman, an article from Breitbart News saying with the title being database searches show Somali fraudsters funding Democrat politicians. So, these aren't opinions. Without objection, >> there's actually reporting on this. Um, are you guys aware, you guys are elected officials in Minnesota, right? [snorts] Are you guys aware of the reporting that some of the stolen money is getting funneled back to the Islamic terror group al-Shabaab in Somalia? >> Mr. Robbins? >> Yes, sir. And we have evidence of it going back as far as 2012 where a man was convicted of sending 21,000 to al-Shabaab. In 2011, two Minnesota women were convicted of sending money to different uh groups. Someone else um we have multiple references of how the al-Shabaab takes a cut when the money gets to Somalia through the Hala network. So, I think there's ample evidence on this and federal. >> I watched this hearing twice because I couldn't believe how fast the tone changed the moment Eli Crane said, "Roll the video." Up until that point, it was the same routine. Republicans raise concerns about fraud tied to Somali daycare programs in Minnesota. Democrats respond by shouting racism, xenophobia, islamophobia, pick your label. It's the oldest trick in the book. When you can't debate the facts, attack the motive. But then Crane did something different. He didn't yell. He didn't grandstand. He played receipts. And the energy in that room shifted immediately. You could feel it. The talking point stopped. The moral outrage routine stopped because once you introduce evidence, actual reporting, documented convictions, financial trails, the emotional shield doesn't work anymore. What struck me most was how fast the pivot came. Instead of addressing whether taxpayer money was mishandled, the response was, "This is racist." Not, "That's inaccurate." Not here's the counter evidence, just outrage. And that tells you everything because here's the uncomfortable question nobody wants to answer. If there's nothing there, why panic when the video plays? Crane referenced reporting showing that some of the same networks accused of abusing pandemic food funds were also politically connected. That's a serious allegation. If it's false, it should be disproven calmly and clearly. But instead, we get deflection. And this is what frustrates normal Americans. It's not about party. It's about accountability. My tax dollars are not a political slush fund. If fraud happened, prosecuted. If money was funneled improperly, claw it back. That's not racism. That's basic governance. The moment that really sealed it for me was when testimony touched on prior federal convictions involving money transfers connected to extremist groups. That's not a conspiracy theory. That's documented court history. And again, instead of engaging with the substance, the response was to question the character of the people asking the questions. That's when you know the debate isn't about truth anymore. It's about protecting narrative. What Democrats in that room didn't expect was that video evidence cuts through rhetoric like a hot knife through butter. The silence wasn't because everyone suddenly agreed. It was because facts are harder to shout down than opinions. And let's be honest, Washington has a fraud problem. Pandemic funds, relief programs, billions moved fast with little oversight. It would be shocking if there wasn't abuse somewhere. So why is asking about it treated like treason? Here's my bigger concern. When political leaders respond to scrutiny by labeling it hate, they cheapen real conversations about discrimination. If every audit is racism, then nothing is. That's dangerous. Eli Crane didn't win that moment because he was louder. He won because he was prepared. He anticipated the pivot. He brought documentation. He forced the room to deal with specifics instead of slogans. And that's why someone bolted for the door. Because when the narrative collapses, there's nowhere to hide. This isn't about attacking immigrants. It's about demanding accountability in government programs. Charity is voluntary. Taxation is compulsory. The least we can demand is transparency. The lesson here? Evidence beats outrage. Receipts beat rhetoric. and sunlight still works. If you want more breakdowns like this, calm, direct, no spin, make sure you're subscribed because the more they try to shout it down, the more we're going to roll the tape.
