PHENOMENAL WOMAN BY MAYA ANGELOU - SUMMARY

hi this is J in this video we shall see the summary of phenomenal women a poem by Maya Angelo Maya Angelo is an American poet and she's also a singer dancer composer actor teacher memorist and poet she is a woman of many talents she was also a key voice in the American Civil Rights movement and much of her works is about striving to succeed even in the face of of adversity in this poem she declares her own confidence and appeal which makes her a phenomenal woman which she celebrates the poem is in five stanas and in the first stanza she tells us that she is not conventionally attractive like a fashion model but when conventionally pretty women ask her what her secret is to being so confident and strong she tells them that a success stems from the reach of her arms the span of her hips the length of her stride and the curl of her lips in other words the confidence Swagger and attitude she exudes her in the second stanza she describes walking nonchalant into a room and how her mere arrival prompts all of the men in the room to stand up out of respect for her or even to drop to their knees in humility then these men approach her all wanting to be close to her like male bees swarming around the queen bee the third stanza reasserts the fact that she has a passion in her eyes and a glint in her smile and can swing her waist in a sassy and alluring way the way she walks lightly with joy in a step also draws men to her because she's a phenomenal women the fourth stance of the poem returns to the question of men and the effect she has on them men are self-c confessedly puzzled by the fact they are so attracted to her and struggle to explain it because there is some deep inner mystery to her even when she tries to reveal the mystery to them they still claim they don't understand so she tells them that her appeal rests in the way she arches her back the radiance of her smile the shape of her breast and a graceful and Elegant Style in all she does these qualities make her the Phenomenal Woman she is and in the last stance of the poem she turns to address women especially black American women she tells them that they should Now understand why she walks with her head held high she doesn't have to shout about herself to be noticed when other women pass her they should feel proud her success is in the click of her heels the bend of her hair the palm of her hand and she looks after herself and demands others treat her with care and respect too because she is a phenomenal woman now let's read the poem pretty women wonder where my secret lies I am not cute or built to suit a Fashion's model size but when I start to tell them they think I'm telling lies I say it's in the reach of my arms the span of my hips The Stride of my step the curl of my lips I am a woman phenomenally phenomenal women that's me I walk into a room just as cool as you please and to a man the fellows stand or fall down on their knees then they swarm around me a hive of honey bees I say it's a fire in my eyes and the Flash of my teeth the swing in my waist and the joy in my feet I'm a women phenomenally phenomenal women that's me men themselves have wondered what they see in me they try so much but they can't touch my inner mystery when I try to show them they say they still can't see I say it's in the arch of my back the sun of my smile the right of my breast the grace of my style I'm a women phenomenally phenomenal women that's me now you understand just why my head's not bow I don't shout or jump about or have to talk real loud when you see me passing it ought to make you proud I say it's in the click of my heels the bend of my hair the palm of my hand the need for my care cause I'm a women phenomenally phenomenal women that's me this is the poem if you have anything more to add on to what I've said please write it in the comment box like the video share it with your friends and if you not subscribed my Channel Please Subscribe and support thank you
