Wings of Glory / How to Play Solo / Best Solo System Ever

[Music] hey guys welcome back to rc brucy and board games and as you can see here i got wings of glory sitting here on the table and i'm sitting at home on quarantine because of good old covid and i started doing some research looking around because i always don't have someone to play with uh sometimes my kid's attention span isn't very long or good uh play for a couple minutes i'm stuck with a game half done and um started looking around and found a guy named by the name of herky bird who's come up with a set of rules here as i'll show you here in a little bit that he's built a solo system an ai for wings of glory and i played it all day yesterday and i have to say it's absolutely brilliant for solo plays it's probably one of the best uh solo miniature games out there that have kept me entertained and have worked really well like i said yesterday i played it i must have played 10 games yesterday sitting around doing nothing and uh to be honest i had a heck of a time and got beat quite a few times by the ai itself uh developed by herkey berg he has this for wings of glory war one and for world war ii for you who are wondering i'll leave the links in the video description so if you're interested you can do this yourself i'm in the midst of a game here where i'm the allies uh this is the one i'm actually winning uh at the moment but i thought i'd take time and show you here how this ai system works by herkey bird what you're going to need when you go to a site you can print these out templates i glued them to a piece of foam make them a little thick but what you do with this ai let me back up there i'm sorry you're going to need a template a measuring device a die a tablet or you can print them out these are a set of movements that are created by the herky birds ai system here what you'll do is on this template and in the rules you put this template down on your base and where this runs through to the closest enemy airplane to this uh to the solo system here that you're playing so this would be who i'm playing this is the my plane and it falls in sector four so he would be the closest the a the ai always goes after the closest plane so when you put it there and it flips to the other side and there's a different set of numbers but he's in sector four you take a dice you roll it it's a five so what you would do then is you would come here sector four and i rolled a five so one two three four and five six so here would be my cards that i would lay out to move the ai so let's see here let me see if i can do this real quick and like i said this works really really well and i'm really impressed on just how well this works and usually i will move my planes first it doesn't really matter i can't seem to remember what i lay down especially when you're playing several planes but it would give me my movement cards i'd lay them down in order on their track just like you normally would do you'd have your airplane i'm just going to move one of them here um sorry i should have had this set up didn't think about it but we're definitely going to want to do that just give you a little quick run down here with the one plane on how this works so like i said then you'd go through your normal movements like so get the dice out of there everybody would move the same as you normally would now the ai's card you check for fire there is none go to the next move this guy would have moved of course he would have probably shot depending on what i've done i'm just trying to give you a quick demonstration here but it was an awesome i've had nothing but awesome dog fights with this thing my move no one in line of sight lo and behold boom the ai's got me in their pass you'd measure like you normally do that'd be it two hits and i draw damage like you normally would and once again he shot me the ai like i said i played several games like this now and the system works really really well i think if you give it a try you'd be really impressed yourself but that's just a little quick demonstration on how this works i want to put out there that on the ai system when you play the solo system they ignore damage besides smoke or fire just keep things running pretty smooth i haven't run into really any big problems with that like i said i've tried uh quite a few times i really gave it a go and it beat me which was really interesting and gives you a good challenge and keeps this great miniature game going playing solo which is always awesome especially now in these days and times when due to things going around the world or just this uh pure fact of how busy everyone's lives are is always hard getting uh together with anyone and getting together just to play board games with the fast pace of the world this is an awesome awesome system where i get you more board time practice time and entertainment time and i just wanted to share it with you all again like i said i'll put it down uh in the description uh the link to herky bird's site where
