hey we're live so I think I'm going to go ahead and get started assuming everything is working good and before we roll into what we're going to look at this week um you know last week we did q a and um time ran out on me actually didn't have time to get all to all the questions and so I'm gonna I'm gonna take two minutes and two seconds and do one of the questions today and I don't know if maybe if I have a chance I'll try and do some of the other questions the other weeks as well but someone and ask about uh Body Soul and Spirit and the ceiling of the Holy Spirit and so what exactly is sealed is it all is it is it just the spirit the soul you know what is sealed and what comes out of that so uh the three verses I'd give you second Corinthians 1 22 God hath also sealed us and given us the earnest of the spirit in our hearts so the so the Holy Spirit seals our spirit because that has to do with our hearts um uh that was second Corinthians 1 22 Ephesians 1 13 in whom ye also trusted after that ye heard the word of Truth okay these are all Soul uh Soul things not Spirit things the gospel of your salvation in whom also after that you believed ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise so there's sealing of your soul the ye the you the the ego that made that choice to trust and then finally Ephesians 4 30 and grieve not the holy spirit of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption now your spirit and your soul are already redeemed but there is a day of redemption coming for your body so what we will say is that the ceiling takes place for all three although maybe differently uh depending on whether you're talking about a material part of you or a um uh immaterial uh spiritual part of you and so you know your um a Colossians 3 11 when you get saved a spiritual circumcision takes place it says it's made without hands because holy spirit's one that does it separates your flesh from the sin nature that's that is in you know in the sin nature that's within it from your soul so before you get saved your spirit's dead and you're you know your soul kind of follows your body instead of the other way around but um Paul says that the that uh you know the sin is inherent within our fleshly body until it gets redeemed and so this spiritual circumcision takes place to step once your spirit gets saved to separate your soul from your body and so the soul kind of stays the same uh uh and when a lost person dies their soul follows their body down to the grave and then further downward and their Spirit goes back to God um and and then their soul is just in Hell For Eternity but when a sad person dies their spirit and solar Inseparable now and so the soul having been circumcised from the Flesh and for us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord uh both soul and Spirits second Corinthians 5 6 and 8. and so as to Spirit components like conscience intuition communion I think for the Lost uh their conscience is defective their intuition and their communion is more open to spiritual deception and um a Christian has to sear his conscience to get it that way First Corinth First Timothy 4 2 or be seduced by a familiar spirit so as to those soulish components mind will and emotion uh for the loss their mind is blinded they don't know any better than to follow philosophy pride and their feelings but getting saved means the Holy Spirit brings you the alternate mind of Christ and the spirit of Christ so you can follow God's Will and and redeem how you feel and uh so uh you know as to which which ones which of those things what's sealed by the Holy Spirit Soul Spirit or both actually Body Soul and Spirit are all sealed holy spirit is also the seal on your body and the Lord knows that's his and so when he comes back Resurrection your body day of redemption for it and um you know the components of Soul and Spirit stay the same but the ceiling the spirit means there's some differences so let's have a word of prayer we'll get into what we're going to look at uh uh at this time father we thank you Lord for your mercies to us thank you for the word of God thank you that Lord as we consider these things we can get the background necessary to be able to disciple people and do it even more thoroughly we we after discipleship one we really need a discipleship of sound Doctrine and so if this can kind of stand in the place of that and give us something more than father we thank you and pray that it would be so today as your spirit speaks to our hearts through your word we ask it in Jesus precious name amen so what we're saying about you know the Body Soul and Spirit in the ceiling and circumcision don't expect to find that in Wayne grudum or NT Wright or I any other Systematic Theology out there it's just all I did was read bible verses to you three dealing with the sealing of the spirit in the New Testament and one each for for a spirit the soul and body so we've been doing this survey in a systematic fashion uh but our system of systematizing is to support our actual discipleship lessons with sound Doctrine um and uh I think it is not necessary for us to take time uh to approach it from the standpoint of the natural men and women uh the natural the scholars who are still yet in the natural man uh to Define it or even those who are saved but only admit anything that the natural man will agree with so um I hope you understand the importance of what we're doing uh both as to what we're doing and the way that we're doing it last time we finished kind of our survey of the theological topics related to uh discipleship and had had our q a session prior to that in successive weeks we looked at prophecy Angels and Demons the spiritual life of prayer all of that circles us right back to the Bible and how to rightly divide it so I want to press reset this week and let's start off at a new beginning turn to Ephesians chapter 3. one of the things you see after you get saved and you continue to discover as you study the Bible is that there's more order and structure than what you imagined and there are more spiritual neural connections it's like you know that we the Bible says it's the mind of Christ but really it's kind of the brain and as the brain it has all of these spiritual neurons spiritual neural connections throughout the Bible and uh you can never arrive or uh feel like you've arrived because there is always a new connection that's not yet been studied out before that you could explore so anyone who says that well you know they've reached a certain age or stage and now they're up there and they you know you they really understand it now uh might need to go back to school uh so I'm just saying that even though we're two-thirds of the way of this class uh right now we don't just have a faith in faith we have a faith in facts and so what I say and this is our thesis uh this is our thesis for this session at this time is that the word of God will do the work in your life and in others lives because the spirits always answers to the word now this is why you know we tell people that you know people get saved I I was listening to an evangelist this morning he was preaching talking about you know when you get saved you now have a power to overcome the flesh you had an hour power not to give in to The Temptations that you were given into before even you go back to the same place that you came from and you go back to the same relationships and so forth and that is that is true but but what happens is a spirit answers to the word and if you don't go back taking the word and getting into the word then you you are not experiencing all the power that you need to have and so this is why the Bible is totally sufficient and nothing else nothing else ultimately satisfies and and in the Bible facts and the Bible principles that we are looking at there's this unfolding of a Divine Design a purpose a plan for eternity for your soul it was in the mind of God before the world began and there are implications and one is that the only way to understand sound Doctrine is to have a clear understanding of the purpose of God for eternity and for your soul in eternity and that's why if you don't understand God's plan for the universe and God's plan for planet Earth you can't ever really completely comprehend the totality of God's plan for your life if you don't know God's purpose for your soul in eternity you can't relate to God's plan for your life right now so what is God's Eternal purpose well uh what what had happened was if you look here in Ephesians 3 and verse 1 for this cause I Paul the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles if you've heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which has given me to you word how that by Revelation he made known unto me the mystery now skip down to verse 6. here's where you get to the me to what that mystery is that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel they couldn't partake of it by the covenants given to given to the Jews but they can we can partake of it by his promise the promise that's in Christ through the gospel so verse 9. and to make all men see what is the Fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the world have been hid in God who created All Things by Jesus Christ to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in Heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God according to the Eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our lord now go down to verse 21 unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages World Without End that was God's purpose for eternity that was God's purpose for eternity to even exists and and it started an attorney past but Paul says it was a mystery for most of the time until it was revealed to Paul after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and now Paul's Epistles bring us into the fellowship of that mystery so um let me hope to unconfuse you because the Bible word mystery does not mean something hidden it means something that could only be revealed by God's word in his timing so now a mystery is a revealed truth not one that is still a secret it is a truth that is the public subject of preaching so the Eternal purpose of God if I boil it down from those verses we looked at especially verse 21 is to glorify himself by his son Jesus Christ through his body this church so that is done as we preach the gospel to the world and Make Disciples of those who get saved so to say those seven verses out of Ephesians 3 succinctly is to State God's purpose for eternity it was to glorify God by Jesus Christ through his body this church and even though all around us all we see is time this capsule of time is just a speck on on God's Eternal plan therefore and this is our second point for study everything happening in history is happening according to Providence because of God's plan for eternity now get Deuteronomy 29 your left hand and First Corinthians 2 and you're right Deuteronomy 29 First Corinthians 2 . angels are not Eternal they're just Everlasting they're not Eternal because they are creatures who had a beginning matter is not Eternal because it was created at the beginning but God and his purpose are Eternal not just Everlasting you know Everlasting means it starts at one point and it goes on forever no God's purpose was from eternity to Eternity so we make the jump to light speed and and we entered the time warp of God's Eternal plan when we get saved now Moses said in Deuteronomy 29 verse 29 the secret things belong unto the Lord Our God but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever that we may do all the words of this law so Moses is admitting there was a mystery there was only going to be revealed to Paul but as far as the Hebrew children were concerned God God's children the Jews as far as Israel was concerned well those things that they had revealed through God's words in the law were were for them now here's here first Corinthians 2 great verse on Revelation verse 9 9 but but as it is written I hath Not Seen Nor Ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him okay now the things in the heart of man that God's prepared they are secret but verse 10 God hath revealed them unto us by his spirit for the spirit searcheth all things yea the Deep things of God so the things that are now revealed are revealed by the Holy Spirit how verse 13 which things also we speak not in The Words which man's Wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth comparing spiritual things with spiritual what are the spiritual things we are comparing John 6 63 Jesus says the word that I speak unto you the words the words that I speak unto you they are spirits and they are life now that gets us to the key words for the quiz which is the word Providence Providence is the key word for the quiz because God has certain things revealed in his word and God has secret things revealed by Providence and they are only revealed once you get there that's Providence that's why Daniel 12 Verses 4 and 9 say that that the words at that time that God gave to Daniel were closed up they were shut and the book was sealed it says even to the time of the end and there and once you get there it'll be open and revealed because that's what providence is Providence is not pre-ordination because Providence is not Blind Faith so let me give you my sidewalk definition Providence is God's pre-positioning of what you need at the spot you will need it when you get there because God's Providence has eyes so in John Bunyan's story The Pilgrim's Progress and it's uh you know the ancient and spiritual and kind of biblical story of uh like J.R R Tolkien did The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings okay John Bunyan Pilgrim's Progress and here's Pilgrim and and he meets apollyon and pollyon is about to kill him in just one way you know John Christian the main character of the story is just on his back and and Napoleon's on his chest and just one more swipe and Christian's hand happens to fall in a sword he takes it out he stabs the dragon he flies away and Kristen keeps going and okay that's Providence a pre-positioning of what you need at the spot you will need it and since God's Providence has eyes and it's all it is infallible you are not then you can always trust in the fact that that when you think you can't stand it anymore anymore any longer well somewhere God's positioned pre-positioned what you need for your escape and you just gotta trust God and find it so why is the kingdom of God a mystery and God's return to Israel a mystery and Paul's got a gospel of grace and mystery and the New Covenant blessings coming to us a mystery well it's because God was holding open an option based on the Free Will of Israel its leaders and the Free Will of man and and yet his Providence has eyes uh which saw Israel reject his son and right at that moment he had pre-positioned Paul so that he could eventually show Paul and reveal to Paul the mystery that was hidden in his eternal purpose so the church was hidden until the Messiah was rejected so that the offer he gave to the Jews and continued to I mean he gave to the Jews during his ministry he gave Peter and John now the first time that Apostles ever do Miracles is not until after Jesus is gone and now they're doing the same Miracles that Jesus did when he was here and so now they are they're walking through and they're they're doing this uh chapter 4 and chapter five now they're doing it for the very rulers themselves and he was rejected by them and since God believes in headship then that was that and it didn't matter that three thousand got saved none none of the religious Elites changed their mind about who Jesus was and uh so God and yet God needed to keep that going all the way through chapter seven when they finally stoned Stephen it was a full free and unprejudiced offer of their promised Kingdom but his foreknowledge knew what was going to happen so he pre-positioned something for us that will lead them back to Jesus mind blown and so here's the important point the only way to know and understand God's Eternal plan is by what he reveals in his word and what he does in his story I.E history so get Hebrews 1 and one hand in Genesis 1 and another actually Genesis 1 John 1 and Hebrews 1. if we dip into God's word if we line it up with what he does in this bubble of time then we become part of God's purpose for eternity because Earth's earliest ages include the original creation of god so let's step back and start at the beginning before we unwind the covenants so that you can understand the dispensations Hebrews 1 verse 10. and thou Lord in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the works of thine hands John chapter 1 verse 1 in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and the same was in the beginning with God and all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made Genesis 1 verse 1 in the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth now go to Isaiah 45 so so those three beginnings those three verses are talking about the beginning of time our time before that beginning was the Eternal Father the Eternal son who was not called the son he was called the word and the eternal spirit and they three held the Eternal purpose why is Jesus called the word before he becomes the son of man well because Jesus was always the manifestation or the appearance of God the father and God was always revealed through his word he is the alpha ad Omega because God uses his words so God revealed himself through creation he revealed himself in Jesus Incarnation and he reveals himself in his words so the father created man the son agreed to die for man the spirit consented to draw men and women to that perfect Redemption after they had fallen Isaiah 45 Verse 18 says for thus saith the Lord that created the heavens God himself that formed the Earth and made it he hath established it he created not in vain he formed it to be inhabited so it was a perfect it was perfect and purposeful at its beginning God created the Earth not in vain not void but between these passages in Hebrews 1 John 1 Isaiah 45 and Genesis 1 verse 1. there's a gap and then verse 2 of Genesis 1. and into that Gap into that crack you can put Earth's earliest ages you can put the geologic timetable uh it was at age of and I'm just going to spout off some things you can agree or disagree but it was an age of giant reptiles and reptile-like creatures and the way we know there's a gap is because of what it says in verse 2 of Genesis 1. and the Earth was without form and void now this is why the Gap theory is actually a fact and we're going to explore the gap because the Gap is a dispensational crack where we have to place something and it is because reformed and Covenant and other Evangelical theologies deny this Gap that they have no crack to place what we are going to show you so number one in Isaiah 45 18 the Earth was not originally created vain yet Genesis 1 2 says it was it was void now get Jeremiah 34 and excuse me Isaiah 34 and Jeremiah 4 Isaiah 34 Jeremiah 4 the same Hebrew words being used in both places Genesis 1 2 and Isaiah 45 18. uh when it was originally created it was an unveained earth and yet now at verse 2 it had become void it's now void there are only two other places in the Bible where that phrase without form and void is used the James gang gives you a synonymous synonyms by rendering it differently so that you can know what's going on here in Genesis chapter one but both instances refer to God's judgment on Rebellion Isaiah 34 11 but the cormorants and the bitterness shall possess it the owl also and the Raven shall dwell in it and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion and the stones of emptiness the line of formlessness and the stones of voidedness and in context that is a reference to hell to the Lake of Fire verses 9 and 10. so Jeremiah 4 23 I beheld the Earth and lo it was without form and void and the heavens and they had no light okay that is a type of the tribulation so this is not Genesis 1 but two but it but it's like it uh verse 24 I beheld the mountains and lo they trembled and all the hills moved lightly I beheld and low there was no man and all the birds of the heavens were fled just like in Genesis 1 verse 2 I beheld and lo the fruitful place was a Wilderness and all the cities there were broken down at the presence of the Lord and by his Fierce anger so this is the Tribulation as a picture of what God previously did when the when the anti-christ fell after Genesis chapter 1 verse 1. verse 27 for thus saith thus hath the Lord said the whole land shall be desolate yet will I not make a full end okay so I'm gonna I'm Gonna Leave a Remnant to work from in the tribulation and oh I didn't make a full end to the Earth because because Satan fell I just made it void and empty uh and and without form and verse 28 for this shall the Earth mourn in the heavens above be black because I have spoken it I purposed it and will not repent neither will I turn back from it so God's going to turn hell loose again uh in the tribulation because that's what he did in this gap between Genesis 1 1 and verse 2. so number two the Earth was originally created with form and without Darkness first John 1 5 this then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you that God is light and in him is no Darkness at all so now back to Genesis 1 and Ezekiel 28 Ezekiel 28 Genesis 1. this gives us the back story we can now figure out what gets stuck in the crack of the gap there is a kraken dragon that goes in this crack so the crack contains the Kraken Genesis 1 verse 3 and God said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness okay hold it Darkness originated someplace and it didn't we already read it didn't come from God so somehow somewhere something happened between verse 1 and verse two there's no Darkness until verse 2. so the Earth's created and then there's a cataclysm and then there's Darkness and what proves the Gap is creation verse 1 and then cataclysm verse two there was creation according to God's purpose for eternity in the outworking of that purpose it providentially and purposefully included a spiritual cherub fall and a spiritual human fall so something that looks like it interfered both after verse 1. the cherubs fall and in Genesis 3 the human fall and yet what happened after verse 1 fits into this hidden unrevealed Mystery of God's Eternal purpose so darkness is the devil's false light it's a black life and the name Lucifer means light-bearing or shining one he was the headlights on The Chariot of the cherubims first Chronicles 28 verse 18. you didn't know that maybe I think we mentioned it when we were going through angelology you might have missed it but the cherubim's Chariot has headlights and so when Satan fell he became the black lights the anti-light of the universe and and now we know that the Kraken is in that crack between verse 1 and verse 2 we know what to stick into the gap of Genesis 1 1 and verse 2. here it is Ezekiel 28. here's what we stick in the crack verse 12 son of man take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus so that I can be addressing the Devil Himself indirectly through your prophecy just like Jesus addressed the Devil Himself indirectly through Peter get thee behind me Satan and I and say unto him thus saith the Lord God thou sealst up to some full of wisdom and perfect in Beauty thou Hast been in Eden the Garden of God so so he's not talking literally to the king of tire but who the king attire represents every precious stone was I covering the sardius topaz the diamond barely Onyx The Jasper the sapphire the emerald the carbuncle and and gold the workmanship of thy tabrits and of thy pipes is prepared in thee and the day that thou was created so note from our study of angelology how part of part of this cherub was organic and part was metallic or inorganic uh in other words his Spirit was in the wind instruments pipes and in the spring the strings tabrets thou verse 14 Thou Art the anointed cherub the Messiah cherub the Christ cherub that covereth and I have set thee so thouest upon the holy mountain of God thou Hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire you were a fireworker walking in in the fire underneath God's throne so so we've got an outer Court we've got uh the holy place and we got the most holy Place Lucifer is in the Eden verse 13 outer Court the Mountain of God verse 16 the holy place and in the very midst of the stones of fire the whole the most holy Place verse 14 and he ascended to the north side of the mountain in order to get where he should not be because he wanted to ascend to the spot God said and just sit alongside him that's why he is the anti-christ uh verse 15 now was perfect in all thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity was found in thee now go to Psalm 76 the first world the world that then was was populated by sons of God Lucifer created was created perfect long before Humanity showed up and he was placed in Eden long before Adam got there and before God planted a garden Eastward in Eden but since he had been that covering cherub and uh and is now running this world with the sons of God and this world being the footstool of God's Throne uh he he wants to ascend up to the throne itself and the first sin mentioned in the Bible is the iniquity that was found in him when he said I will Ascend Isaiah 14 13. so Lucifer didn't want to replace God Isaiah 14 14. he just wanted to send it sit at the right hand of God as the Son of God he wanted to be not just the Cherub of Christ but Christ the son of God so he was the Antichrist and he starts his counterfeit Kingdom with counterfeit light from the burning coals the black coals beneath the wheels of the cherubims Ezekiel 10 verse 2. someone will say well what when Satan sinned why didn't God just judge him why didn't God just wipe him out well he did but he did not judge his sin he did not judge his fall with total Destruction because that was not part of his purpose in eternity instead Genesis 1 2 and what follows shows us how he judged it so that it would fit in with his eternal purpose because nothing ever thwarts the purpose of God Psalm 76 verse 10. surely the wrath of man shall praise thee the remainder of Wrath shalt thou restrain okay now get Isaiah 24 Isaiah 66 job 9 Isaiah 24 Isaiah 6 job 9. I will say that God is the most humble being in the universe why because he took Satan's sin and he Sanctified it to make even the Wrath of the devil Praise Him and that is how big God is that is how fantastic his purpose is that is how big the sovereignty of God is it is so big it is interactive with free will by unfettering it so that you exercise your free will and when you do God's sovereignty takes it into account and then providentially makes it fit into God's purpose for eternity and now that'll bake your noodle so so here is creation then cataclysm how God judges the devil uh or everything we've looked at to this point stuffs right back into the crack that was made by the Kraken which turns to out to be a gap which God foresaw and providentially adjusted to and So what had happened was God judge judged sin with a quarantine Isaiah 24 verse 1 behold the Lord maketh the Earth empty and maketh at waste uh and turneth it upside down and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof not us but the inhabitants at the time now that now in actual context I don't want to mislead you Isaiah 24 is talking about the tribulation but God is going to do in the tribulation what he once did before after Genesis 1 1 and before verse 2. he scattered the inhabitants even if those inhabitants were sons of God and giant reptiles ruled over by a fallen cherub who had once represented the Reptile Kingdom job 9 verse 6 which shaketh the Earth out of her place and the pillars thereof tremble which commandeth the son and it shineth it riseth not and sealeth up the Stars which alone spread out the heavens and treadeth upon the waves of the sea not a land-based sea but the great deep which was Before the Throne of God so verse chapter 66 of Isaiah verse 1 says thus saith the Lord the heaven is my throne and the Earth is my footstool okay now get Isaiah 13 II Peter 3 and Genesis 1 Isaiah 13 second Peter 3 Genesis 1. in ages past as the universe expanded and God's purpose is unfolding the Earth was at its Center a food stool is what a king stands on to sit on his throne it is attached to the throne second chronicles 9 16. um but something took place and now at this moment that footstool is out of place now after after the millennium the New Jerusalem is the throne and the Earth is once again God's footstool uh well does the New Jerusalem orbit the Earth or vice versa well that that depends not on size but on Mass depends on gravity and the New Jerusalem is going to function as the son Revelation 21 verse 23 and 24. so I'm going to say probably it looks like the New Jerusalem comes down to us but in terms of the universe we go to to it to the throne and what happens is we now orbit the New Jerusalem even though New Jerusalem is about similar in size could fit kind of inside of the Moon that we now have so so so God created Angelic beings to praise him then he gave the creation over to them and said you're you are God you run it Psalm 82 verse 6. so he has a plan for the Earth the sons of God were here with a ruler who was the Messiah cherub uh who had covered the Throne of God but then a fallen star appears because that cherub wants to be like the most high not just not just lower than the the most high and God says he creates evil and darkness Isaiah 45 verse 7 God it owns up to creating evil and darkness because he created the Cherub which iniquity was found in but he also creates the Cure so part of God's judgment on that cherub sin of Pride and jealousy is to remove the Earth to the edge of our galaxy and remove our galaxy to the edge of the universe and to quarantine sin far away from God's Throne which sits on the sides of the north and is sealed off by A Great Sea so now Isaiah 1313 says therefore I will shake the heavens and the Earth shall remove out of her place in the Wrath of the Lord of hosts and in the day of his Fierce anger so Earth went from being the universe's Capstone as God's footstool to his throne to being stuck here in the Milky Way and so God judged sin with a flood second Peter 3 verse 5 for this they willingly are ignorant of that by the word of God the heavens were of old and the Earth standing out of the water Genesis 1 1 and in the water Gap whereby the world that then was being overflowed with water perished but the heavens and the Earth which are now Genesis 1 2 and following by the same word are kept in store and this is the thing that's sad to say creationists Miss so um Institute for creation research can ham and uh you know all these uh all you know the typical conservative Evangelical creationists they locate this standing in and out of water with Genesis 7. instead of Genesis 1 with Noah's flood and not not this the Kraken flood uh and uh and overflow is when an object is baptized in other words killed and raised from the grave so so it overflowed the Earth was overflowed before um it was uh you know had had nose flood and they missed the fact that there'd been two floods on this planet so they think the Gap is somehow an accommodation for evolution and you know here's what they make a big deal out of and yet they totally Miss Romans 5 verse 12 says sin entered the World by one man Adam and so death passed upon all men but that is speaking of Adam as the federal head uh the kingdom Authority for the human race because Eve had already sinned before him and and before Eve could have sinned Lucifer had to have sinned before her and if if sin brings death there was death already in existence even on this planet before Adam and Eve showed up but it comes into Humanity not when we're not when Eve Falls but when Adam does so their misunderstanding of the fossil evidence is that it shows death and therefore they believe uh it it all of the fossils must record something that happened after Genesis 1 uh verse 2. but death comes by sin Lucifer already sinned uh even got Eve to sin before Adam if Noah's flood interfered with uniformitarianism and the dating methods of evolutionists well what do you think that the flood before Genesis chapter 1 verse 2 did I mean it interferes with the creationists so II Peter 3 is not the fled and Noah's Noah's world that's described in second Peter 2 verse 5. it is the flood of the world that then was that was a totally different world it contrasted to the heavens and the Earth which are now it is the flood of the heavens described in Genesis 1 verse 6. and and God said let there be a ferment in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters just like the exits from Egypt in the book of Exodus part the waters that are flooding the Earth and God made the firmament divided the waters which were under the firmament in other words within the cosmic background radiation from from the waters which were above the firmament outside the universe as part of that cosmic background radiation and it was so the firmament between the waters the sea above and the Seas on our Earth contains our known universe and God called the firmam in heaven that's outer space it is it is darkness of Blackness and lifeless because it becomes the devil's domain and that is why the expression God saw that it was good is not found on this day of creation uh it was a recovery operation he told the light to shine the first day but the second day he got his hands dirty because he was washing the world for us and the evening in the morning were the second day so that is the earth standing out of the water creation then baptized in water the second day at catastrophe then standing in the water at the cataclysmic cataclysm and finally brought brought out for the creation of man which follows so the creationist problem is timing and chronology and comparing that with the age of the universe and the dates of the fossil record but that's not only a problem if you deny the first flood the one before Noah and do not see the Gap you know it is when they when they deny those things it's a big issue so the Big Bang is kind of a big bang and then the Cambrian explosion is kind of an explosion and it's an Abrupt appearance of life it is not Evolution there's not Evolution anywhere in the fossil record we see Evolution today you can you can see you know as a Darwin observed finches in London change color because of the changing atmosphere and environment that they're in okay you can see that uh you that okay that's Evolution but you don't see one species going to another specing species anywhere it doesn't happen you see this explosion of new species of life not a gradual time and chance and survival of the fittest evolving but an explosion Wikipedia says uh in 1859 Charles Darwin discussed the Cambrian explosion as one of the main objections that could be made against the theory of evolution by natural selection because all of a sudden 541 million years ago most major animal phyla that means organisms who have the same body type and related as living things appeared they appeared not evolved before that first flood in fossils they show up as the devonian period 400 million years ago now after that 250 million years ago a Mesozoic Marine Revolution begins and dinosaurs flourish so fish and fowl are fruitful on the fifth overnight but God's got to get rid of those dinosaurs because on the sixth overnight about 66 million years ago mammals appear so there was an Extinction event on Earth as God placed a firmament in outer space in response to Satan's fall now it's not quite as cut and dry and clear and evolutionary geology as it is in the Bible and yet it should be clear so the more fossils we find the more random the picture becomes we do you know we dig down and find a big horse and we dig down and find a smaller horse and we Dig Down find a really little horse and we keep digging down we find a we find you know we find a shopping cart from Walmart and an outboard motor and so the more more we find the more random it looks which is what you would expect from a cataclysm with water and my only point in using their timeline is to point out how clearly it jives with the Gap in Genesis and notice the first thing God did after the cataclysmic catastrophe verse 3 says light happened and the evening in the morning and yes that means god counts times starting with sundown but you also have to read what it says God worked the night shift and he started in the dark of Earth's earliest age after the Gap and said let there be light somebody and God Worked six overnights and once the seventh morning Dawns the Sun never sets Genesis 1 verse 11 and God said let the Earth bring forth grass the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind whose seed is in itself upon the Earth and it was so God can speak to the Earth and get Plants verse 11. he can speak to the waters and get fish verse 20 because they already had that kind of life in them before the first flight of verse 2. the seeds were there The larva the eggs were there God sticks his hand into the mud to give us the body of man so there were six days God works the night shift sticks his finger and stirs the pot licks the spoon and except for the second day says man that's good tastes like chocolate in here I mean there were there were six overnights and that's why it's hard to see clearly what God did in the record of geology if you're an evolutionist you miss God's non-uniformitarian intervention in either the first flat or Noah's flood if your creationist you miss God's Universal judgment flood for on the world that existed before Genesis 1 verse 2. yet it matches Genesis because God did not start off created creating Adam uh neither does the geological record start off with Adam uh see that's why you got to rightly divide your Bible as to dispensations so now turn to Psalm 33 and you'll notice we've charted this for you on your handout with the seven Earths uh there is not a seventh heaven although uh you you might you may have bought a hookah pipe there once because there are only three Heavens but there are seven Earths and two of them were the Earths of old the Earth that then was four of them referred to the earth that is now one is a new earth that is to come Psalm 33 verse 6 by the word of the Lord were the heavens made so the heavens were given by inspiration just like scriptures were second Timothy 3 16. and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth he made the sons of God he made the morning Stars I made the Angels Prince Palace and Powers uh just like he made Adam the same way he made Adam's Soul live through the breath of his mouth Genesis 2 7. he gathered the Waters of the Seas together as in Heap okay that is the waters that be above the heavens Psalm 148 verse 4 which is the sea that is before his throne sealing that off from uh the rest of the universe he layeth up the depth in storehouses let all the Earth fear the lord let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him for he spake and it was done he commanded and it stood fast the firmament of Genesis 1 did keep the waters in storehouses though the opening of those storehouses drowned the Earth of Noah's day Genesis 7 verse 11. uh verse 10 the Lord bringeth the counsel of the Heathen to North he maketh the devices of the people of none effect okay okay okay okay not and not a fact that's kind of what he did in the crack and that's kind of what he did in the flood of Noah he made everything not of none effect and that's how he made the devil's devices I'm not of none of fact that the counsel of the Lord standeth forever the thoughts of his heart to all generations now back to Genesis 1. these verses tied together God's purpose God's judgment and God's flood and what God intends verse 11 He commands verse 9 by his word verse six uh there in Psalm 33 uh if you make God's counsel uh as the thoughts of his heart to none effect then he brings your devices to naught without form and void and in vain so God uses a flooded judgment to sanctify Lucifer's rebellion and makes it accomplish his unchangeable counsels so God judged Satan's iniquity with a quarantine he judged it secondly with a flood and third third God judged Satan with separation Genesis 1 verse 3 and God said let there be light and there was light God saw the light that it was good and of God divided the light from the darkness astronomers believe that that water washed over Mars and Venus they believe that I still exist on Mars they believe there's water vapor on Venus Jupiter's moon Saturn's moon and Ceres in the in the asteroid belt have ice or maybe even subsurface oceans scientists wonder how water got on the moon well we can tell them how they want to say it was a comet well if it was God hurled it from the throat frozen deep in front of his throne he was throwing snowballs that day and he's been throwing them at Satan ever since so this is the history of Earth's earliest ages creation turned into chaos by a cataclysm of God's judgments uh Genesis 1 verse 2 verses 6 and 7 is an entirely different description from the garden that is later planted Eastward in Eden where where Adam and Eve are put So Not only was there a cataclysm there must have been a recreation there must have been a renovation of the Earth in in preparation for us so from verse 4 to the end of Genesis 1 we have the account of that renovation not the initial creation of the Earth but of its renovation everything else that was made including humans came out of pre-existing materials so the account of Earth's Reclamation gives us the biblical basis for the dispensational structure of your Bible turn to Ephesians chapter 2 covenants are not unrelated to dispensations because in many cases a Biblical Covenant gives you the content of one or more dispensations uh uh of what those human responsibilities are in that dispensation a dispensation is how God dispenses time at God dispenses life how God is dispensing life at any point in time the covenants are kind of like the terms and conditions so the Noah Covenant gives verbal content to the dispensation of human government the abrahamic Covenant gives verbal content to the dispensation of Promise the Mosaic Covenant gives the written content the terms and conditions which you must say you agree to to be administered in the dispensational law now I'll explain those things more when we get to them but in terms of my sidewalk definition a Biblical Covenant is a Divine promise or agreement that forms the commitment of God to his future dealing with Humanity and so Ephesians chapter 2 verse 12 says that at that time ye were without God you Gentiles you were without Christ being aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise strangers meaning you could have gotten in um by your choice but you would have had to move here be with us uh submit to an Israelite bring a sacrifice you had no hope you had you were without God in the world and that is how God describes covenants as promises made by God on the human plane cutting a covenant between men was a commitment to faithfulness and it involved a loyalty unto death on the Divine plain since God cannot die then a covenant between God and man stipulates the relationship which they will have man does not bring a proposal to God God says okay I guess I'll do that terms of covenants God is always the initiator and so a Biblical Covenant contains the promises for an interpersonal relationship because it is done by one for one and with someone the idea of a covenant is because of our inability to secure our own blessing then God by Grace commits himself to provide what we need so the promise of the abrahamic Covenant provides a seed and a land unconditionally the Palestinian Covenant provides a kingdom of people in the land uh for that seed from that seed the davidic Covenant provides a seed on the throne so we've got a seed we've got a land we've got a kingdom we've got a king a ruler all provided by covenantal promise and Mosaic Covenant was different so those covenants were all Everlasting and unconditional covenants but the Mosaic Covenant was conditional and provided a temporary righteousness through the temple sacrifices only until the Lamb of God should come to take away with his blood what was only being covered by those animals blood but what if Israel rejects their Messiah then everything's lost right well no because now there's a new covenant with Israel and with Judah and Gentiles get New Covenant blessings early so as to make those Jews jealous because even it is still an Everlasting Covenant with the houses of Israel and Judah Jeremiah 32 verse 40. so I want to overwhelm theological dysfunction with dispensational function so this is my listing of the covenants before we leave listing the covenants turn to Genesis chapter nine it's kind of like dividing the dispensations in the sense that there's biblical latitude I think in how different teachers come up with their final lists and God makes it that way I think for two good reasons first so that you will have to think critically and be a Burian and evaluate what anybody else tells you against the word of God on your own and second so that you will have to think for yourself in evaluating the biblical evidence and and come up with a system based on a matter of conscience for you so the criteria that I have used with regard to the covenants is that which I see stipulated by scripture in other words the Bible itself has to say that it was a covenant uh C.I Schofield and his reference Bible combines one that I list separately and he lists a couple of others that I don't see called Covenants and he feels like he has big biblical warrant for doing that uh because in his estimation the qualities of a covenant uh exist for example between God and Adam he has an adamic Covenant but my thing is well God did give Adam a commission to fulfill I don't I don't see him directly calling that a covenant plus the way I list him comes up with seven so I know it has to be right so number one uh noahic is an Everlasting Covenant salvation Genesis 9 verse 9 and I behold I establish my Covenant with you and with your seat after you verse 16 and the bow shall be in the cloud and I will look upon it that I may remember the Everlasting Covenant between God and every living creature of All Flesh that is upon the earth now go to Genesis 15. the first and last in this series of seven covenants are both called Everlasting and after Noah came two covenants with Abraham God had already talked to Abraham about his seed in Genesis 12 and 13. and this perspective seed was going to be like the dust of the Earth because Abraham is a father of both Israelis and Palestinians both Israelis and ishmaelites dust of the Earth but now he uses his words in a covenant to tell Abraham which group is going to get the land Genesis 15 verse 18. in the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abraham Abram saying unto thy seed have I given this land from the river of Euphrates unto the Great River the River from the river of Egypt out to the Great River the river Euphrates so this is this is not dust of the Earth this is a seed that will be like the sand of the seashore Genesis 22 17. they are also the physical seed for the physical Kingdom of Heaven dwelling in a physical land grant but they're not just dust they're sand which is dust kind of melted together by fire and turned into stone and Polished through friction and then to them was given the Covenant of circumcision turn to Genesis 17. God Appears to Abram again when he had 99 years and 99 Problems and he changed his name to Abraham and said in verse 10 of Genesis 17 this is my Covenant which ye shall keep between me and you and thy seed after thee every man child among you shall be circumcised verse 14 and the and the uncircumcised Man Child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised that Soul shall be cut off from his people he hath broken my Covenant I turn to Galatians 2. in Acts 7 this is called the Covenant of circumcision why do I separate this and put his two separate covenants when Schofield and Lewisberry Schafer and others keep it as one Covenant well simple the abrahamic Covenant was unconditional and spiritual Genesis 15 verses 1 to 6 tell Abraham his seed are going to be like the stars there's a physical sign given of circumcision Genesis 17 10 to indicate that someday God is going to produce a clean seed by Abraham by the faith of Abraham which will escape Adam's pollution Colossians 2 11. God that seed produces children who will be as the stars of Heaven so Abram's seed dust of the earth that covers Ishmael and Isaac Abram seed as the San Jose Shore that covers Israel and the kingdom of heaven but Abraham's seed stars of Heaven you know that's us Isaac typifies that seed there is a spiritual seed for the spiritual kingdom of God and it is those of us who become sons of God by being born again who replace the sons of God which are fallen and we get a glorified body like the only begotten Son of God Jesus so these two covenants carry three factors a seed like the dust the Earth Palestinians see like sand of the seashore which will inherit the Promised Land in constitute the Kingdom of Heaven Covenant they are given a covenant of circumcision which typifies as typifies a seed like the stars of Heaven which is us so Paul makes a big hairy deal about the difference between these seeds and these covenants both in Galatians and in Romans here in Galatians 2 verse 7 but contrary wise when they Jerusalem Jews saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter and now that doesn't mean a gospel that that getting circumcised was a gospel or that staying uncircumcised was the Gospel it means that it's the same gospel but one but Peter takes it to those who are circumcised Paul takes it mainly uh to those who are uncircumcised uh so of means for in this context it was not a gospel about being circumcised it was how we get the gospel to the group who was circumcised Jews and get it to the group's uncircumcised Gentiles now go to Romans 4 and Ezekiel excuse me Exodus 19. Exodus 19 Romans 4. Peter's getting the gospel of Abraham's physical seed who had the Covenant of physical circumcision Paul's getting the gospel to Abraham's spiritual seed who are made children of Abraham when they come into Christ and are spiritually circumcised uh that is the case uh that is acknowledged by the pillars of the church the mother Church of Jerusalem in their conference with Paul and Barnabas in Acts 15. so don't believe me just watch uh Romans 4 9 cometh this blessedness the gospel of justification by faith alone without works imputed righteousness cometh it then upon the circumcision only whereupon the uncircumcision also for we say that Faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness but how was it then reckoned uh when he was in circumcision or in uncircumcision not in circumcision but in uncircumcision when God imputed righteousness to Abraham by Abraham's Faith to be willing to offer his son Isaac um that was that was when he was still an uncircumcised Gentile and he received the sign of circumcision a sign of the Covenant to Abraham's chosen seed Isaac but also a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had being yet uncircumcised that he might be the father of all them that believe though they be not circumcised that righteousness might be imputed unto them our seal lives inside of us and it fulfills the anti-type by circumcising US male or female it seals us as we saw from the question that I answered at the beginning of the session but it also uh circumcises us Ephesians 4 30 Colossians 2 verses 10 11 verse 12 and the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only but who also walk in the steps of that Faith of Our Father Abraham which he had yet being yet uncircumcised so the spiritual blessings of Abraham are to anyone who follows the example of Abraham to trust and obey for there is no other way and so we become Abraham's spiritual children by faith in his promised seed the Lord Jesus we then get the spiritual blessing of Abraham which is an imputed righteousness from God which you see down in verses 24 and 25. now calvinist and reformed churches teach that baptism is a sign of the New Covenant so sprinkling your baby may not show an adult decision to trust Christ for everlasting life but they say it is the boundary marker of the elect putting them into the New Covenant that is called Covenant and reform theology circumcision was a sign of the abrahamic Covenant and made with his seed and that is why women did not need to be circumcised because they were part of that seed descending from Abraham Isaac and Jacob and circumcision did not guarantee you were part of the Covenant because Abraham had other Sons male descendants who were who were circumcised that the promises were not intended for and did not go to Genesis 17 verse 20 and 25. I mean he had he had other Sons by Katura and they went on from there so the only similarity between baptism and circumcision is um that both of them were given okay circumcision as a seal and baptism as a figure first Timothy 3 21. and someone has already received something from the Lord Abraham already received imputed righteousness before he was circumcised we already received God's word acts 4 2 41 and God's spirit acts 10 47 before we are baptized number four mosaic that's Exodus 19 verses um three to six uh verse verse 5 Exodus 19 5. now therefore if you will obey my voice indeed and keep my Covenant then ye shall be and there follows three titles until the period at the end of this sentence you will be a peculiar treasure you will be a kingdom of priests and you'll be a holy nation now let me give you a sidebar in some contemporary theology Covenant theologians cannot even find a place in their scheme for this Covenant even though they call themselves covenant theology they still refer to this one as part of what they call the Covenant of Grace in spite of the curses pronounced for not keeping this Covenant so all they have is three covenants based on their own human logic reason philosophy tradition and presupposition of fatalism so since their scheme is based on fatalism and not faith they ignore the biblical data that we're giving you right now all they see is three's covenants and assumed Covenant of redemption between the Trinity and the in eternity past and inferred Covenant of works with Adam before he fell and then a Covenant of Grace applicable to the elect who are predestined to be part of it uh so what we're seeing here uh Exodus 19 is the Covenant of Moses from Moses from the law from the giving of the law this Covenant is also a dispensation but we're not there yet next week faith will be shown under this Covenant but only by your works the law was a conditional Covenant it was temporary it's now today called the old Covenant but oh this was a glorious Covenant Israel's encamped at Mount Sinai for 11 months 19 days and 57 chapters and this is where they compose the old folk song she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes and this Covenant is called statutes Commandments precepts laws and memorials but this Covenant was So Glorious because it encompassed three things it has a three-fold system of law Commandments which is moral law judgment civil law ordinances ceremonial law and these starting off with the moral Commandments they are said by Paul to be holy and just and good for New Testament believers who are not under the law but under grace Romans 6 Romans 7. then you have the civil code social judgments and the ceremonial ritual turned it back to Deuteronomy 29 Deuteronomy 29. I mean those were the good old days my friend we thought they'd never end you knew whether you could go to movies or not and you knew how long your skirt had to be and you knew when you needed a haircut and it even helped you pick out glasses because you could not wear why are Rim glasses I mean it thinned your wardrobe because you couldn't wear flared leg pants I know most you're not old enough to even understand what I'm talking about but this was that was the Covenant back in the day when I was growing up in high school and it told you what radio stations you were limited to and don't you miss the good old days such a glorious Covenant but the fifth Covenant is Palestinian Deuteronomy 29 verse 1 these are the words of the Covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab beside the Covenant which he made with him in Horeb so it's not a covenant for Palestinians it is a covenant concerning the land of Palestine and this one is separate and additional to the Covenant of the law of Moses why we'll look at Chapter 30 verse one go to 29 from 29 verse 1 30 verse 1 and it shall come to pass when all these things are come upon thee the blessing in the curse which I have said before thee and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations wither the Lord thy God hath driven thee meaning this Covenant amplifies and confirms the promises of the land grant made to Abraham and says look even when you mess up and I kick you out of it well this promise this this part of that promise it still stands secure I'm so much so I'm going to secure it with its own Covenant and it clarifies that if the nation does not keep the law they will be scattered outside the land go to second Samuel 23 second Samuel 23 in order to have a kingdom you not only need lands and a subject you also need a king so with the sixth Covenant is the davidic Covenant second Samuel 23 verse 3 the god of Israel said the rock of Israel spake to me he that ruleth over men must be just ruling in the fear of God now David's not done that but somebody will and he the rock of Israel when he comes in my line shall be as the light of the morning when the sun riseth even a morning without clouds as the tender grass springing out of the Earth by clear shining after rain although my house be not so with God yet he hath made with me an Everlasting Covenant ordered in all things insurer for this is all my salvation the coming of the king of verse 4 is and All My Desire although he make it he made my own house or my own seed not to grow now this is the last thing David ever wrote The Promise did not come to pass in his lifetime David recognizes that what he's saying is not even about him so this Covenant is fulfilled with the second Advent turn to Luke chapter one the Covenant with David concerns a royal seed a Royal House a royal throne and a kingdom David says even though this Covenant will not be fulfilled with my seed through Solomon it will be fulfilled with my seed through Nathan because the messiah's mother Mary is going to come from that and he's going to be virgin born so the house I established doesn't live up to the ruler that God requires but the rock man the Messiah that God provides will and because he's the savior this is also an Everlasting Covenant of Salvation as Isaiah 9 verse 6 and 7 talk about so watch here Luke 1 verse 31 and behold thou shall conceive in thy womb and bring forth the son I shall call his name Jesus he shall be great shall be called the son of the highest and the Lord God shall give unto him the Throne of David his father although it is obvious he did not get that thrown at his first coming Matthew 25 31 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no end so finally seventh a covenant the New Covenant in the Mosaic Covenant of law that process got really old glorious as it was turn to Jeremiah 31. he was so old and so failed that God had to press reset and replace it with something new because Christ came and fulfilled the law and since he fulfilled the law God canceled the old Covenant and made a new one sealing it with his own blood as the Seal of the Covenant this New Covenant between Messiah and his people who are Israel and Judah was prophesied by Jeremiah and you can read it there in Jeremiah 31 verses 31 to 34. um and I'm going I'm going to pass over that because times ran short turn to turn to Romans 10 Covenant and reform theology teaches that this Covenant has been taken away from the natural Seed of Abraham taken away from literal Israel and given to the church which they would call spiritual Israel the euphemistically refer to this type of theology as fulfillment theology but it is not it is replacement theology because they say the church completely replaces Israel in God's plan which makes a mockery of covenants to begin with which is probably why they are so off base and whack where it comes to covenants although they call themselves covenant theology demons cannot do exegesis that's how you know you're dealing with doctrines demons they can't do Bible exegesis and yet this is part I mentioned this because it's part of contemporary theologies and what confuses them is how the New Covenant is just like the kingdom of God and the church is in the kingdom of God but the kingdom of God does not exclusively belong to us because when the king comes back he's king of both kingdoms likewise the New Covenant okay we get the blessings New Covenant but it doesn't belong exclusively to us and if reform and Covenant theologues are right then this present dispensation is the final one in the plan of God and there's no place for a future Millennial Kingdom but if they're wrong and this Covenant really was made with Israel and with the Jews how do we get how do we get these blessings how did they come to us Romans 10 verse 19 but I say did not Israel know first Moses saith I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people and by a foolish Nation will I anger you but as isaiahs is very bold and saith I was found of them that sought me not I Was Made manifest unto them that ask not after me okay same thing Romans 11 verses 11 12 and 15. and verses 25 to 32 confirms exactly what we're talking to you about here so so now you know God has always been gracious but this is the dispensation of Grace God is dispensing eternal life as that much of New Covenant promises come to us Gentiles so that his people the Jews will be jealous eventually and return to him and you can be Petty and you can complain about God doing it that way if you want but Paul points out that these judgments are part of God's unsearchable riches and the knowledge of God and it is not possible for you to tell God anything or teach him anything now besides that this manifold wisdom of manifold Grace is how God ends up saving both ends of the world the Jew and the Gentile when both had failed to seek and find his righteousness his salvation so now in this dispensation God bestows all the merits of the precious blood of Jesus on uncovenanted undeserving Gentiles by grace and my sidewalk theology definition of Grace is Grace is the finished work of Christ operating on your behalf as you activated by faith so those are the seven covenants beginning in ending and having one in the middle it's an everlasting Covenant and but the beginning and ending Everlasting covenants of Salvation the time that a covenant is in effect May coincide with the dispensation as we will see with the Mosaic Covenant and the dispensation of law other times it may be transdispensational like the Noe a covenant it may be worked out in several dispensations to climax in one like the abrahamic Palestinian and davidic Covenants promising Israel a seed a land and a ruler during the dispensation of law but all culminating in the New Covenant promise to a Remnant during the dispensation of the millennial Kingdom because the content of all Israel's covenants of Promise are fulfilled in that Millennial Kingdom it all has to wrap up there so covenants are Divine promises made with humans sometimes the promises are conditional but there is a dis there are differences between a covenant and a dispensation covenants deal with people on a collective or national level that's why it did not matter that 3 000 people got saved on the day of Pentecost if the rulers rejected the message almost almost all of the covenants without uh without or without reference to how an individual gets eternal life from God secondly dispensations are the ways that God is dispensing eternal life in any given period of time since the fall of Adam so Covenant and reformed theology is a contemporary theology but dispensationalism is not really a theology it is it is a way of viewing your Bible uh what what had happened was in Calvinism and Covenant reform theology they got it twisted how did they get it so Twisted okay let me just give you a preliminary definition on dispensations and then we'll work it from there dispensationalism is a way of approaching the Bible that allows the Bible to interpret itself it is simply a faith-based outlook on the Bible as being special Revelation from God so you will always result in becoming a dispensationalist if you allow the Bible to open and interpret itself there are three ruling lines a special revelation okay remember God reveals himself in creation but he also reveals himself in his word that's special Revelation and the most number one most accurate accurate understanding of the Bible only comes as you allow to shed light on itself now it's not what I was taught in Bible College in Bible College I was taught the grammatical Historical Method of interpretation today in Evangelical seminaries and this is why they get various contemporary theologies because they have unimproved on that idea by making it a grammatical historical socio-rhetorical interpretation and at the bottom line they say the highest level of understanding that you can come to is knowing what the original author meant and what the original hearers understood only in the original language now that would be true if you take a skeptical View and you box God out if you box God out of his own book then you've got approach it skeptically just like they do and not as a unit containing the mind of God uh uh so in our case in terms of this La lfbi theology class um second First Corinthians 2 13 there are different things which we speak not in The Words which man's Wisdom teaches but which the Holy Ghost teacheth how does he teach by comparing spiritual things with spiritual and Jesus said the words that I speak unto you they are Spirit in their life that is what we compare one part of the word of God with the other in order to Define everything that's happening in the Bible turn to Isaiah 28 if you're a dispensationalist and you have a crudence concordance which is more of a phrase concordance you can not only look up the word day you can look up the phrase third day and that day and latter days and those words do not carry special information by themselves but they do serve as hyperlinks they are the neural spiritual connectors to different parts of your Bible and they link texts from all over the Bible to the spot you are looking at in the Bible and that is the way that the Bible says to interpret itself Paul calls this comparing spiritual things with spiritual Isaiah says in Isaiah 28 verse 9 Whom Shall God teach knowledge and Whom Shall he make to understand Doctrine them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts for precept must be upon precept precept upon precept line upon line line upon line hear a little their little that's comparing spiritual things spiritual that's that is that is the spiritual neural connectors of the mind of God the brain of the Bible for you today the words are the keys to the Bible because God's spirit delivers God's truth in word packages and the spirit always answers to the word Matthew 8 Luke 4 John 3 John 6 First Corinthians 2 First Corinthians 12 Ephesians 6 Colossians 3 Hebrews 4. so God takes his truth he divides it up and he hides it in different parts of the Bible then he connects it with specific terms that you can find through simple English Bible exegesis of the authorized version and by that method he weeds out all those who are disingenuous deceitful and not serious so when you interpret the Bible the way it says to interpret itself it does the same thing as is happening right now it enlightens your eyes to special sustenance like Jonathan found when he when he when he touched his staff into the honey and put it to his mouth and the primary cohesion of the 66 books in your Bible does not lie in their literary genre or their historical and human setting or the culture they were written from or the original language they were written in or the rhetorical aspects of their inner texture and intertexture and intertextuality and cultural texture and ideological texture and discourse grammar those are all the words you have to pay 400 to 800 credit hour to find the definition of uh so a third uh point for study final point for study the primary cohesion of your Bible lies in the fact that it is the mind of God for Humanity today and God has a purpose in Eternity for your soul it is a special revelation of God himself he shows himself to convey why he created us for himself so when someone asks you a question about the Bible developed a habit of Consulting cross-references and doing concordance references because a tool as simple as a Bible concordance gives gives consent to the principle that scripture is its own interpreter and overtly leads you to being a dispensationalist all right so in the final analysis got to get through these through three ruling lines in the three or four minutes got left in the final analysis all scriptures related to revealing the Eternal purpose of God I talked about that at the beginning of this session why does God do what he does why does he desire to set up a kingdom uh why did he give a special Revelation why does that Revelation culminate in The Fellowship of The Mystery of the gospel of grace why does he want us to complete the Great Commission of making disciples and going and winning and baptizing and making them members of a local body and then teaching them as disciples so that we can send them out and do the same because he has a purpose for your soul in eternity which as we said is to glorify God by his son Jesus through his son's body of the church and once you understand that then here's what that means all scripture is related to the person and work of Jesus Christ but within the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ God sets forth distinctions and distinctives they must be rightly divided as to the particular role for Israel as the people of God in his kingdom kingdom of heaven and the particular role in time for the church as the sons of God in the body of Christ in his kingdom the kingdom of God so let me be kind of rewind with one more point for study all scriptures related personal work the Lord Jesus is setting forward distinctions and distinctives relating the particular role in time for Israel and the church one role for Israel certain rules rows and goals related to that one role for the church with rules rules and goals related to that Kingdom there's still a unique feature for Israel related to their rules roles and goals which God is going to get back to after we are raptured so dispensationalism is a way of approaching the Bible that allows the Bible to interpret itself but dispensations are periods in which God is dispensing eternal life according to different Divine goals human roles and biblical rules so those are two ruling lines of special revelation the special revelation of the Bible ruling lines that will help you divide it and and get us good a straight slant on on the right division uh and so let's examine expand that idea in a final ruling guideline The Illuminating Teaching Ministry of the Holy Spirit to students in the past can now be preserved for those of succeeding Generations it didn't used to be so before the printing press that's why this whole idea of dispensationalism uh seems like a contemporary invention of the 1800s and past that's only because printing press resulting finally in a King James Bible resulting finally in in all sorts of concordances and re and reference tools keyed to it so that you could begin for yourself to see this and and bring it out I think we owe a debt to those lovers of the Bible who attempted to unfold its message to others and left that to us in their writings and recordings but really it was there in the Bible all along people just didn't have the tools to retrieve it and so our goal for you is to stand on the shoulder stand on my shoulders even when I'm gone let's stand on the shoulders and Mark Trotter let's stand on the shoulders of men and women who went before us and then look out a little further by our own exegesis of the King James Bible and be like the children of issachar men who have understanding of the times to be able to know what Israel ought to do today first Chronicles 12 23. so it's a good thing this is a Bible Institute instead of a college or seminary because we don't give you much besides the Bible but we hope it'll be a blessing open the understanding and application of Bible principles to your own life next week we'll start breaking down God's week of seven dispensations my time is up thank you for yours let's have a word of prayer father we thank you again we could go back to the very beginning uh get straight on what happened then because that tells us how everything else is going to land and with the foundation of these covenants we're going to be able to understand so more much more easily the dividing of these dispensations that we'll get into next time and so father we pray that you would help us to continue to consider your word for all that it is the mind of Christ the the brain of God neural connections here a little there a little line upon line precept upon precept make us grow that we might be fruitful for you and fruitful for eternity we ask it in Jesus precious name amen thank you
