-Dove Cameron. Welcome back. We always love it
when you're here. You are already having
a big year already, okay? Because two weeks ago, you
announced that you got engaged! Hello! [ Cheers and applause ] Look at this.
There's you and Damiano! -[ Laughs ] [ Cheers and applause ] -Uh, I love Damiano so much. You said,
"It's gonna be a beautiful..." -He's the best, right?
-He is the best, yeah. But, no.
But you guys got engaged. Tell me about it.
What was it like? Was it butterflies? Romantic?
Talk to me. -Well, I mean,
so, first of all, we-- -What a ring, by the way.
I'm getting blinded. Ooh. -I know.
-Holy macaroni! [ Cheers and applause ]
That's insanity. -I know.
He did such a beautiful job. He helped design it,
so I feel, like, especially, like, touched,
and it's so perfect. -Did you have any idea? -He was like,
"I'm designing the ring." -He told you?
-Yeah. And then he was like,
"The ring is done." So I knew... -Any day now
this could happen. Like, "You let me know
when you're ready, bud." -Exactly.
-"I'll be here." -So every step of the way,
I didn't know how close we were,
how far we were, right? But I just knew forever
that this was coming. And so I told all my friends
in all the group chats. I was like, "Oh, my God.
Like, wow, isn't that crazy? Like, I'm going to be married.
I'm going to get engaged. Like, maybe this year, maybe
next year. Like, who knows?" And they were like,
"Okay, well, you know
the one thing you have to do. You have to wear white
every day. You have to-- You have to
always have your nails done. Because there's no way
that we as a group, as a community,
can plan this engagement if you're not
going to be prepared. Like, you got to kind of,
like, get your life together." And so one day-- It was a day that I, like,
never could have projected. We were packing. And I'm the worst version
of myself when I'm packing. I've never learned
how to pack well. I am always terrified,
as though it's my first time. There's clothes everywhere.
I don't know if you guys... There's no good way
for it to pack. I don't know.
Maybe this is just me. -I'm the worst.
-So clothing is everywhere. I'm in a big T-shirt, no makeup. Hair still, like,
kind of wet from the shower. And I'm, like, running around like a little creature
in our house. And he--
And he does that thing. I don't know if you guys-- I feel like every girl
knows this with their partner, where I'm, like, in the hallway
and he does that thing. Like, the... [ Laughter ] That, like, boyfriend--
The boyfriend face of like, "I love this little
silly creature that is in my life," right?
-Yeah. Okay. -And I was like,
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no." -"No, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no!" -Exactly. I was like-- I was so prepared
until literally right now. And so I ran into the
other room, like, panicking, thinking like,
"Dude, should I do my nails? Like, what do I do?
Like, I got to be ready." And he goes, "Babe..."
-Where was he? -It was in our house.
-I know, but he's waiting for you as you're
pacing in your room. Like-- [Babbling]
"What do I have? Do I have white? Oh, my gosh!
What am I doing?! Uh, hold on, Damiano!
Give me five minutes!" -It was exactly like that.
It was exactly like-- I forgot how to function for a
minute. My brain broke in half. And then I came out
into the living room, and he-- He had something in his hand,
and he said, "I know that some girls
want rose petals. I know maybe you were
expecting something big. But our life is so big and it's so-- it's full
of so many, you know, public highs that there's no
romance in that for us anymore. And so I wanted to do this
here in our home because I want dishes,
I want laundry, I want making food together, I want you in your big T-shirt. This is the life that I choose,
and I hope you choose the same. Will you marry me?" -Come on!
[ Cheers and applause ] Damiano stuck the landing. That's a stud. Romantic. I love that.
-I cried. -Congratulations.
-Oh, my God. I cried so much. -You did?
-Oh, from the moment I saw him standing,
I was, like, sobbing. -You lost it?
-Yeah. Yeah. It was actually really funny. -Are you used to
wearing the ring? -At this point, yes,
because he proposed in October. And we only
announced it in January because basically
when he proposed, we got on a flight
like two hours later, and it was a flight
to Australia. We slept on the plane.
-Yeah. Those flights
are four weeks long. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You stay for a month
on a flight, yeah. I know. -He proposed in October.
We landed in November. And when we got there,
we showered and went out to lunch
with our friends, and we got-- There was a paparazzi who got us
the first day out in our rings, and so we weren't planning
on announcing it, but then the whole world knew, and my grandma's
calling my mom being like, "Why is 'The Daily Mail'
saying..." -Yeah.
-Yeah. So we announced it really late
because we wanted to do it, like, when everything
quieted down. -Congratulations. Couldn't
happen to a better couple. You're gonna love it.
It's the greatest thing. It's the greatest thing
in the world. You got a partner, and you're
great partners together. -Thank you.
-I also want to say
happy birthday. You turned 30 this month.
A big month for you, bud. -Yeah!
[ Cheers and applause ] -What does Dove Cameron do
for her 30th birthday? -I wasn't going to do anything
because I don't know-- Like, I'm a Capricorn, and so for me,
I hate to celebrate myself. And so everybody--
all my friends were like-- They, like, had me
locked in a closet being like, "It's your 30th birthday!
You have to host a party." -30?
-Yeah. And so I wasn't going to do it,
and then the day before my birthday,
I was like, [Bleep] it. I'll text everybody
who's in town." And I just told them like, "Don't get dressed.
I will be providing the pajamas. Don't do your hair nicely.
I will be providing the wigs." And we just had, like,
a nice little pajama party. -You had
a wig and pajama party? -Yeah.
-That's pretty fun. -Yeah.
-What do you do
at a wig and paj-- Just wear wigs and pajamas? -We wore-- Well, yeah. -Wow. I'm pretty good.
Pretty good. Never been invited to one. Yeah.
-You're catching up. -Thank you. Yeah.
-My best friend, Veronica, and my partner, my fiancé, have a deep, deep love
and reverence for the "Descendants" franchise. -Of course you do.
Yes! We all do. -As we do.
-As one does. -And we do respect--
And we do respect our history and where we came from.
-Thank you. -And so they wanted
to watch "Descendants." I swear.
I swear they wanted to watch... -We believe you.
I believe you. -And I even texted
one of my best friends, Boo, and I was like,
"Just be forewarned. 'Descendants'
is going to be on." And he's like,
"Then I'm not coming." And I was like,
"So we're watching all three." -Does Damiano love it? -He loves "Descendants"
in, like, a way that's almost divorced
from his relationship with me. -Really?
-Yeah. Yeah. -And what's his fave? -He likes the first movie
because he thinks, like, the original is... We couldn't beat it.
We couldn't top it. But he really likes
all the music. I've caught him listening to it
on his own, like, once or twice. -Oh, really?
-Yeah. -Well, last time you were here,
you were hinting at new music. -Yes.
-And do you have
anything coming out? Can we announce anything
this year, maybe? -So, I have been
working on an album for a very, very long time.
-I know. -And I've been wanting
to release it in a number of different iterations that
I've had it completed in now. -I know.
-Because it's been
two years, Jimmy. It's been two years.
-Yes, I know, Dove. -And I recently,
as in, like, last week, finally got the green light
from my label that they say this year
is the year to release my-- finally my debut album. -Yes!
[ Cheers and applause ] We will be here for you.
-Thank you. -I'm excited for that. Uh, let's talk
about your new show, "56 Days." This is based on
the best-selling book
of the same name. The trailer, by the way-- The trailer alone
has over 56 million views. Congratulations. Just came out. Congratulations.
That's a big deal. -Yeah.
-56 million. -Wow.
-Uh, there's a moment in the first episode
where it's almost like a-- I'd say almost like
a "Titanic" scene, except you're standing in front
of, like, an industrial fan. -Mhm.
-Explain the scene to me. -Okay.
-Well, I know the scene, but explain it to the world.
-Okay. So... So in this scene,
Oliver works in construction, and so he's like,
"Have you ever been skydiving?" And she's like,
"No, I've never been skydiving." And he's like, "You want me
to teach you how to... You want me to show you
the feeling of skydiving?" And she's like, "What, are
you gonna push me off a cliff?" And then he's like, "Better." And he takes her
to this construction-zone site, and it's really romantic,
but, to me, it makes me giggle. And they, like, fall
into this big industrial fan, which looks like--
Exactly. Just... -You're flying.
-Oh, my God. You're an actor. -Thank you.
-You're an actor. But it was something that
looked really easy in theory, but for, like,
safety standards and practices, we couldn't just be leaning
on this huge industrial fan, so off screen,
we are hooked into ski boots. -Yeah.
-Attached to skis. -That's hilarious. It is kind of
the most unromantic... -It's the most unromantic thing. Especially because
we can't move. You see us, like, embracing.
They call, "Cut." -But you can lean forward.
-Yeah. They call, "Cut." And we're like...
-Yeah. Oh, my gosh. You're full-on
Michael Jackson. I love it. -It's so funny.
-But it's this-- It's a psychological thriller. You guys are gonna love this,
uh, the idea of it. It's two, uh, young people
who meet, and they kind of
fall in love super fast. And then you cut to--
There's cops in the apartment, and there's a dead body

-And we don't know who it is. Is it him? Is it her?
Did he kill her? Did she kill him? You--
-We don't know. -We don't know!
-That's the whole thing. -56 days later,
something went down. -Something bad happened!
-Something-- Oh! -Whoa!
