Why Jordan Peterson is wrong about IQ

according to this man here Jordan Peterson um there are no jobs or place in society for anyone with an IQ below um 85 and that's 15% of the population okay so let's let's have a look at the unemployment rate in Ireland so in June 2023 the unemployment rate was 3.8% okay so out of those 15% of people who are unemployable in Ireland 3.8% are actually unemployed which tells me that Mr Jordan Peterson is incorrect and um oh like picking his nose there but um he's not correct and um of course you need to question um these types of um individuals now according to the system you need an IQ of um at least 70 to be employable uh that's like the threshold um if you have an IQ of 70 you are just about intelligent enough to work if you have an IQ below 70 you are classified as not being intelligent enough to work and they say that 2% of the population has an IQ below 70 so there's one point so let's just say for um argument sake that all those people are unemployed or on disability allowance or homeless or whatever one now we have 1.8% of people who are intelligent enough to work who don't work so maybe they have other conditions like maybe they're blind uh maybe they uh in a wheelchair with a physical disability maybe they have I know multiple sorosis cancer or whatever um you know what I mean so that's the thing you know I think a lot of those unemployed I would say that most of those who are unemployed or jobless longterm probably have some sort of condition that prevents them from working there probably is I I believe there are some people who can work who don't work um I think most those people would have you know below average IQs I read an um I read a comment on a YouTube video Someone said oh I've got an IQ of 85 but I just live off social welfare because the system is rigged against me because of my low IQ uh I don't think that's a good um mentality to have you know your mentality is oh if I can't win or become highly successful then I'm just not going to bother you know you know if an IQ of 85 you're still capable of um doing okay things like you're intelligent enough to become a carpenter a plumber an electrician you know those people you know who are fully qualified um you know in Ireland they would tend to make above average salaries so yeah I do think you know a lot of those other people who are unemployed are people who are intelligent enough to work basic jobs but they don't really want to um this whole idea that oh you know these um people who are unemployed living on the do they're all a bunch of geniuses who could become billionaires if they want to I don't believe that's really true um if you know what I mean that's that's the problem you know too many people with high iq's um are egotistical and they're they're not able to see beyond the self and they think everyone else on the planet is as intelligent as them but that's not the case you know what I mean
