what is up guys welcome to the Train by JP educational series it's going to be specific to YouTube my goal with these videos is to give you all an entirely complete educational series from episode 1 to 50 60 however many we end up doing that are free for you to consume that aren't behind a paywall that will take you through every aspect of what you need to know in every single subsection to be the best bodybuilder you possibly can be so we're going to cover training nutrition uh the necessary supplementation use the anabolic use and then everything in between that we can possibly kind of get ourselves stuck into to make sure that you have all the information at your fingertips and then obviously if you need any further help you're about to get that from the Train by JP team as a whole now I wanted this to go onto a YouTube channel because I felt like there wasn't anything out there at present that enabled everyone to get a complete access without having to pay something and we've had our content behind a paywall for a very long time and there still will be some aspects that will be behind a paywall but they will be much more specific to coaches and although this content that I'm going to make sure that I deliver to you guys will be useful for coaches I want to make sure that you just your everyday gym user has a lot of information and then your everyday competitor has a lot of information and then you're kind of like entry-level coaches have a lot of information so that's my goal with this content I'm about to do for you episode one this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to start with training and the reason being is that I believe training to be the be-all and end-all of of bodybuilding I mean everyone's going to have a different opinion on that and one of the one of the biggest things I'm going to do with this educational series is consistently play Devil's Advocate with myself because I've spent the last 15 years of of my bodybuilding Endeavors doing that I I will it will take me an incredibly long time to come to a um an opinion on things because I will try to question my own thought process and critically appraise my own decision making until I settle on something that I believe to be optimal and that's what I'm going to encourage you guys to do as well so although I say trading is in my opinion the most optimal thing I want this content to be something that is entirely fluid in the sense that there are no absolutes at any point and I want you to be able to take certain things from these videos that you feel applicable to yourself and then certain things that you don't necessarily agree with because you've been able to think critically and decide okay actually I don't I don't like the way that those things feel for me you then disregard them so then what we're going to encourage is that there is no right or wrong and if anyone out there from the bodybuilding world is saying that this is the way that you must do things because this is the way that I do things then then I'm Gonna Make You question that but they might be right but equally they may only be right for a small subsection and this is where a lot of trainers are going wrong because they're not considering the fluidity that can be applied to bodybuilding specifically training so the first video that we're doing here I wanted to title obviously despite an introduction I wanted to talk to that the fluidity to training and after training for such a long period of time I I have settled on the notion that there is huge inter-individuality to our training needs and and what I mean by that is that I myself at any one time will need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture and the way I'm training and adjust it as I go through my training career so that's the that's the individual aspect to my trailer so at one point my needs will be different to my needs at another time so although I will say at this point in my life I'm training this way and that is the best for me now that is not necessarily the best for me at a previous point or the future and equally my needs are different to your needs and that's the most important part to understand when it comes to training into individuality that our needs are so different so when someone asks the question what is the best training split there is absolutely no best there is no best for you there is no best for me and our needs change on a timeline how do we understand where to start is probably a good question I believe that we can kind of break our training down into maybe four subsections and we could go full body training upper lower training push-pull legs training and full body split training I think that's a very sensible Continuum to work along which one do we choose I believe that this is dependent on development I don't believe it's dependent on time training because we will all know individuals that have been training for 10 years but still have particularly substandard development as a reflection of their training years and then again we know people that have been training for maybe only two years but have been astronomical in their development so then their options that they will pick will be a reflection of their development and then the way that they maneuver between those training sessions will be a reflection of their rate of development um so if we take an absolute beginner we know from a physiology perspective that the amount of work that you need to do to create an Adaptive response from a muscle is incredibly low so for example if I've never done an exercise before all it will actually take me is one to two working sets for my body to go okay so you've done that stimulus I need to create an equal opposite reaction to that to enable the body to be able to do that process again that that's the manner in which hypertrophy essentially occurs in its most basic level so I do two steps a little bicep curl my body goes okay I need to recover and repair because it potentially could make me do that again so only once two sets at that low volume what that opens up is extremely high frequency of training which means you could expose yourself to that every other day so then to make the greatest amount of progress possible as a complete beginner we could train the full body split every other day just continually and then take those days off as complete rest days very very hard training as a beginner to go in and do a full body split it's quite demanding the sessions are quite demanding and then that will see quite often a large number of people shy away from wanting to train in that manner possibly because hard training isn't enjoyable for them equally we'll see a lot of people want to move towards and gravitate towards that style of training because hard training is something that they really enjoy so this begs the question as just kind of a slight segue despite that training being the best for your development if it's actually something that you don't enjoy is it then the best and then in my opinion the answer is they're no because yes from a physiology perspective knowing that we only need extremely low levels of volume which opens up extremely high levels of frequency which will create a consistent stimulus which means over a period of time you can make huge steps forward in development yes that could be optimal from a physiology perspective however if you don't enjoy the training sessions are you going to train as hard as you can I would say the answer is no so then in these circumstances you're going to need to make your selections on your training splits based upon what you enjoy the most because at its most basic level things that we enjoy the most the things that we create the most passionate about are what we're going to be able to progress the greatest in life I've been extremely fortunate that I'm I'm very passionate about bodybuilding I'm very passionate about the training components so then I was able to get very good at that if I wasn't passionate about it I wouldn't be able to and and we see this in every every Walk of Life people that are able to develop careers out of things that they're passionate about they're going to excel so you need to choose something then that you enjoy the most because this is going to be able to bring you the most amount of progress again you'll have a camp of people that enjoy hard training and they enjoy the UN they they enjoy the knowledge that they are being optimal and then you'll have another camp that just wants to have fun and feel good in the moment neither is right or wrong this is very important to understand I think a previous me would have probably shunned the group that just wants to do things for fun now being a little bit older and mature and having more years behind me and having kind of interacted with such a large array of people I don't shun either because it's just silly because everyone has their own motivations to train and when I was entirely locked into one mindset a part of me did think this is the only way to do things if you aren't optimal what are you doing um whereas now I look at things a little differently and this is why I wanted to redo some of my educational stuff because I have a broader perspective on things and I think then that that broader perspective allows [Music] people to benefit greater as a whole so when I say there is no best there is no right or wrong it applies to this uh do you have to train optimally to make the best progress for you maybe not you could go straight into into a split body training because you love the way that that makes you feel it makes you more excited to train and if you're excited to train your training session is going to be more efficient and you're going to make more progress if you dread during the full body trainings training sessions they are not the options for you so let's Circle back on this and kind of summarize this as a whole there are no best training splits if if someone is trying to tell you that you must train a certain way and pro bodybuilders are the worst for this they will try to say that the only way that you should train is the way that they train but they will kind of forget what they did as a beginner and they will forget what got them to where they are now Dorian is a rare example of that because Dorian was so far ahead of his game and he originally trained in a full body way and then he moved to an upper lower split and then he eventually settled on his uh two on one off kind of split body part regime that he did a lot of bodybuilders went straight into her split body parts because they then emulated other Pro bodybuilders and I remember maybe 15 years ago the the training magazines were the worst for this because you would look up the training splits that Pros trained and then you would emulate because you wanted to look like you're the pro that you idolized the most so you're like if I immediately start training like that that's going to get me to where I want to be the quickest and sadly it doesn't work like that for a lot of individuals it certainly didn't for me um and it certainly didn't for the vast number of people that I coached During the period where I was coaching as my main career um and that again made me question things in terms of of what is best so there is no best question trainers that say that you need to train in a very specific way understanding that there is a huge of fluidity to your training and that as you progress through your development you then need to reflect and understand how do I maneuver from each training split the subsequent videos that I do are going to focus on each of those training splits I'm going to break down exactly how to set them up and I'm going to break down how to evaluate when you need to move between splits and how to auto regulate your training volume between them because each one is going to have slight kind of upper and lower shells the amount of work that you can do in them and that's basically based on the frequency of training but I'm not going to segue too much into that because once what I want those to be more concise topics on their own so then you can just focus on one video that will enable you to understand the balance between training volume frequency and intensity because it's a very important topic to understand when you're selecting which training split you do but this first video an introduction to what we're doing here and an introduction to the understanding that there is no best training absolutely not so I hope this video has been helpful for you guys any questions leave them in the comments section I'll be in the comments section all the time answering everything that you need and then for more detailed feedback on things head over to the Train by JPM members site where you can access the Forum section and then you can get feedback from all of our sponsored athletes so you can get an array of feedback so if you ask a question in the Forum section you're going to get 10 ifbb Pros answer you and you're going to have an abundance of information at your fingertips so I look forward to this series with you guys and I look forward to making sure that you get all the information that you need to make the best decisions possible cheers guys
