Coal Boiler at Keith Jr High School

We are in the recesses of Keith Junior High School in a place that I bet you not many of you have been in. This is the mechanical room well underneath the first floor where the original heating system still exists. Behind me is an enormous coal boiler. Check this thing out. It's two stories tall. Those doors up there, man, I bet they're thousands of pounds. Look at that thing. And this hopper was where the coal would have come in up on this track and would have rolled all the way around to a door just on the other side over there. Such a cool space. And what's interesting about this spot is that each one of the heating systems as the new ones were added were just left. They never got rid of them. So, uh you'd be your guess which one was first or second here, but uh none of them are in use now. This entire building runs off of electricity heat. And all the new apartments we're going to do as well will be electric heat. But check out this space. It's just a cool spot of days gone by. And uh and really the real gem is this twostory coal boiler. How cool is that?
