This is me walking up to a stranger I met online and buying what I'm hoping will be a delicious home-cooked meal. Why, you ask? See, I was on Facebook Marketplace the other day. You know, the place where you buy old couches, used cars, maybe a Bob Ross toaster, when I came across multiple people selling food. I'm talking full-blown meals cooked and packaged [music] in a random person's house. Some of these listings do look surprisingly good, while others look like they'd trap me in a bathroom for the foreseeable future. Since I'm someone who obviously makes great decisions all of the time, I decided [music] it'd be a great idea to spend the entire day eating only food from Facebook Marketplace to see if it's worth the risk. And who knows, maybe I'll even stumble upon something great. But first, let's figure out who to order from. [music] So, all I've done is search the word food, and there are so many options. We got an AI photo of loaded French fries, cookies, Mediterranean [music] food. I think my safest bet is to order something that looks good based off the photos, but also is fairly simple to make. So, that's what I'm going to do. I sent a message and got a very fast reply, which means let's go pick up my food. By the way, I'm also bringing my buddy Jim along so he can help me film, but also because he was really against this idea, and I think that's funny. So, we've just arrived. I am quite nervous. To start things off, I ordered [music] a $60 barbecue tray, which if we're going based off of the photos, looks pretty good. Jim, what are your thoughts on what's happening? >> I don't feel good about any of this, >> but man, buying it from these people, I mean, who knows what they're doing. The goal should be not to get sick. That should be the end goal. >> Yes, of course. The only thing that [music] I'm really concerned about with this seller in specific >> is the fact that I originally planned on just bringing cash and paying each person on the spot. But this dude said he wasn't going to cook unless the full payment was sent ahead of time. So, >> I've already sent him money. >> I don't like it. Hopefully, you don't get abducted. >> Magic. I'll have it on film now. >> All right. I'm going to go meet up with a Facebook guy uh and hopefully get some barbecue. Now, despite me joking around, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about all of this, especially since Jim made some very valid points. Good morning. But as much as I want to make this super suspenseful for content purposes, the seller really wasn't sketchy. He was interesting, though. Have you been doing this for a long time? >> 44 years. >> Wow. >> It's called private catering. >> Ah, catering. >> I see. I see. >> Sign saying nothing's for sale. I admit the last part of our convo does sound a bit odd, but I kind of just went along with it. He even brought the food to my car, which I thought was very nice. >> Hope to see you again. >> Thank you. Have a good day. The food has been acquired, and I just got to say this, for $60, [music] I was expecting just a platter of barbecue. This is an entire catering event. Truthfully, I am just glad I didn't get scammed. And assuming all of the food is good, I do plan on ordering again from the cook who stands out to me the most by the end of this [music] video. So, without further ado, let's open this bad boy up. Holy cow. Is it me or does this look good? We got brisket, a rack of ribs, two different types of sausages, and I think that's a smoked chicken thigh, and I think there's a chicken breast underneath it. All of this for $60. We're going to start things off by trying some sausage. I'm nervous. I'm nervous for you. >> Cheers. >> Yo, wait, what? >> Good. >> That's really good. >> Really? >> That's really good. You can taste the smokiness of [music] the sausage. It's salted really well. Peppery, super tender. Are you willing to try it? >> I'm willing to try it. >> Oh my god, it's good. >> For real. You like it, too? >> Mhm. >> I'm honestly shocked you agreed to try some. >> I don't like a lot of spice, but it is like the perfect amount. It's good. >> I guess from here I should try the brisket, right? Go for the brisket. >> Based on the eye test, bark on the brisket looks [music] fantastic. It's fatty, but there's not too much fat either, so you're still getting a nice meaty bite. Eating this in my car, though, honestly, terrible idea. Little bit of sauce. [music] >> Good. >> Mhm. That's actually really good. >> The meat is like so tender. If you chop this up and put it on a [music] brisket sandwich, I probably could eat that multiple times a week. M. Dude, this guy, this guy is no joke. I'm a barbecue snob. This is good. >> I went into this thinking it could be a bad idea. So far, we are starting off very, very strong. >> I don't see how it can get better after this. >> True. It could get worse. [music] >> So, we finished eating and based off of our reactions, I think it's very safe to say that the first Facebook Marketplace [music] order was worth the risk. Would you agree? Absolutely. Now, I do have to admit the guy that we order from does have a ton of Facebook Marketplace reviews, so he's probably the [music] safest bet out of everything we'll end up eating today. To make things a little bit more fun, Jim, I'm actually going to [music] let you pick what we eat next. I'm going to regret this, but since Jim's here, you know, I don't want to be [music] picking all the food. >> Oh, order that. >> What? Dude, no. >> Order that. >> Why? >> It just looks wild. Order it. >> You know, you're going to have to eat this, too, right? Don't order it. >> Ladies and gents, Jim [music] has decided to order something that I have never heard of before. To my understanding, these are hot Cheeto balls. No takes these maxis. I'm going to message the Facebook seller and we're going to get going. Come on. I was just trying to be funny. See y'all there. So, we just pulled up to the next Facebook Marketplace seller spot. I just shot her a message and she said the food will be ready in about 10 minutes. How you feeling? >> I'm nervous. >> You chose this. >> I know. I know. >> Do you think it's going to be good? >> Uh, no. >> Despite Jim's negativity, I want it to be positive. Even though, let's be real, this listing definitely looks like it'll make our stomachs hurt. >> All right. She just texted me. She said she's coming out. I met up with the hot Cheeto lady on the street. Handed her the money. Thank you. Appreciate it. Got them. Jim, in this bag are the hot Cheeto balls. We also had to get out of the car to eat these because I don't know what this will do to our bodies. We may need to walk around for a little bit. Would you like to do the honors and open it? >> Sure. >> Look at these things. >> Oh my gosh. Is it just me or do they look kind of good? >> I mean, kind of. >> Now, I believe the correct terminology [music] for these are hot cheeto buden balls. Apparently, these are a Cajunstyle inspired snack made with Buddhen sausage, rice, and a bunch of cheese that's then deep fried and coated with hot Cheetos. [music] It's like a heart attack waiting to happen. Now, before we dig in, there is something I want to do. Mostly because this is what was on the Facebook listing. Oh. Oh, there's a lot going on in this. Maybe that was a bad idea. That makes it look way less appetizing now that we've seen the inside of these. Ready? >> No. >> Now this feels like a Facebook Marketplace video. Cheers. >> Here we go. >> I don't like it. >> Not my favorite thing in the world. >> I feel like I just gained 20 lbs in that one bite. >> The thing I will say about it is I don't mind the flavor. The [music] texture though is kind of what got me. It's just a lot all in one bite. It's super [music] cheesy and I don't know how else to say this nicely. Kind of like mush. You think that's a good description? >> Yeah. I don't even want to hold it anymore. >> Here. >> Thank you. >> All right, Jim. I'll let you make the decision. >> Mhm. >> Were the hot Cheeto balls worth the risk? >> Absolutely not. >> No. >> No. [music] >> So, now that we have the wild dish out of the way, I want to go for something a little bit more regular, but still unique [music] at the same time. Now, I've been scrolling on Facebook Marketplace for a little bit, and [music] I came across someone selling Filipino food. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of Filipino restaurants in the DFW area. At least, [music] I haven't seen them. So, this could be something very interesting and cool to experience. We're going to message the seller. Hopefully, they are available today. As we drove to the next seller's house, Jim and I were talking and it really dawned on us that buying food from these people would not be as sketchy if they had their own websites. And you know who could help with that? >> GoDaddy. >> Exactly. GoDaddy is the world's [music] largest domain registar while also being the leading provider of online services and tools for small businesses and entrepreneurs. They've [music] just introduced a feature called GoDaddy Arrow, which is an all-in-one AI powered solution that helps quickly grow and establish your [music] online presence. To show you what I mean, I'm going to have Jim create me a website right now. And let's say I wanted to sell barbecue like the first guy. All you need to do is choose a domain, answer a few questions about the business, style, and website features you're looking for. Then Arrow will begin creating the first website draft within [music] minutes. Customizing your site with Arrow is also super easy because their AI tools help you go from a blank page to a working site [music] in no time. Jim, how's the site looking? >> Pretty good. So, if you're thinking of starting a business or want to make a website, you can try GoDaddy Arrow for yourself by scanning this QR code between Jim and [music] I or heading to my link down in the description box below. Thanks GoDaddy for sponsoring this video. So, we're about to pull up to the next seller. I'm looking for the lot number right now, but we're kind of stuck behind a garbage truck. It's taking us a second. All right, I think this is it. So, I'm just going to pull over in front of a random person's house and hopefully I don't get yelled at and go get the food. >> To my surprise, though, this Facebook seller ended up bringing the food right out to my car. Oh my gosh, that looks so good. >> Thank you. >> Do you um do you cook a lot? Like >> I cook a lot. >> Gotcha. Not a lot of like Filipino restaurants. >> No, not a lot. Yeah, I have a food track I'm going to open soon. >> Oh, that's awesome. >> Awesome. Well, thank you so much. I appreciate it. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> Oh, that was so cool. She brought it out to me. I was not expecting that. She was so nice. Food has been acquired. And [music] this is so adorable. First off, there's a little sticker on top. Very cute. And truthfully, I don't know what smells better, this or the barbecue. Both in the car. True. Either way, I have a good feeling about this. The seller was so nice. And what's really cool is she told me that she is planning on starting a food truck business. This is good. We may be visiting her food truck quite often. So over here we have some panset, which is a stir- fried noodle dish made with vermicelli, veggies like cabbage and carrots, sometimes some meat, then seasoned with soy sauce, >> and over here a bunch of lubia. We got utensils this time cuz Jim is smart and we stopped by a gas station. All right, what do you want to try first? >> Um, I actually want to try this. What's it called again? >> Uh, panset. >> Yes. >> All right, Jim, you can have the [music] first bite. >> That's good. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's like a cabbage mixture. [music] It's a really good taste, though. She has some um good stuff in here. I can see you going very good with the uh lupia. >> This is honestly perfect cuz I don't eat enough vegetables in my day-to-day life. Cheers. That tastes exactly how [music] it should. The noodles are savory. You're getting like some sweetness from the carrots, from the cabbage. Dude, I haven't had good Filipino food in I don't know how long. It's been a while. That's good. Now, it's time to try what I am the most excited for, the [music] lubia. These are deep fried Filipino spring rolls, often filled with ground pork and vegetables. We also got some sauce. sauce. I think it's like a sweet and spicy chili sauce. Goes great with these. I'm expecting good things. Cheers. >> Cheers. >> These are good, >> dude. These are bang on. Crunchy, [music] nice and salty. Then the sweet chili sauce adds that sweetness basically. >> I'm very impressed. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Does this make you feel better after those hot Cheeto balls? [laughter] >> 100% better. >> I don't think this will hurt our stomachs. >> I don't think so either. This is really, really good. >> This is probably the healthiest thing we're eating today. And you know the best part about this? This entire tray [music] cost $35. That's it. Home-cooked. Literally. Literally home-cooked and delicious. Jim's literally chowing down some more. >> Good. >> With all of our thoughts being confirmed, do you think [music] this place was worth the risk? >> Oh, 100%. >> Oh, yeah. >> 100%. >> So, Jim, I think we both can agree. I am a little bit better at picking what to order on Facebook, so I'm going to hold on to the reins for a little bit longer. >> That is perfectly fine with me. Great. Now, for this next meal, I wanted to try something that I used to eat a lot when I was a kid. Just something familiar. And I found someone on Facebook [music] selling bunlop, which basically are these Vietnamese tapioca dumplings filled with pork and shrimp. They are delicious. And same thing with the Filipino food. Haven't had it in a while. Sound good to you? >> Yeah. I've never had something like this before. >> This entire channel is just becoming me taking Jim to try new things. Let's get going. All right, y'all. We've arrived at the next seller's house. I have the cash right here. It's 40 bucks for a tray. But the issue is when I told the seller I was on the way, she kind of stopped responding. >> I'm kind of just going to walk up to her front door. And hopefully I can get the food now. I'm a little nervous. I think this is the right house. I hope this is the right house. Do I ring the doorbell? Is there a doorbell? There's no doorbell. At this point, I was beginning to get a little stressed out. We haven't run into any no-show situations yet, but this could easily be the first. I waited outside for what felt like forever and was about to give up when finally. >> Hi, Cole. >> Uh 40, right? >> It was. >> Come on. >> Okay. Thank you. [music] So, I got the food and I hate to say it, but that was probably the most awkward interaction I think I've had with a seller so far. I went into this kind of confident since I do speak a little Vietnamese. I don't speak it well enough for a little bit of the language barrier. Yeah, like with everyone else, I tried asking why she was [music] selling food on Facebook Marketplace. I feel like that's a fair question, but I don't know what happened. Maybe she thought I had an issue with the food at first, but things just kind of got awkward. >> What? What? What happened? >> Oh, just asking. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Awesome. Thank you. Come on. Regardless, the food is here and I am still excited to eat. So, right here, she packed us a Ziploc bag full of fish sauce. Personally, I love the taste of fish sauce. However, if you've had it before, you would know doesn't smell the greatest. And if I were to accidentally spill any in my car, I would need a new car immediately. And under this aluminum foil, we have the bun glob. Are you ready? >> Yeah. Why do you look nervous? >> I'm This one makes me a little nervous. >> All right, here we go. >> Honestly, this looks beautiful in the sunlight again. These are tapioca [music] dumplings. Shrimp and pork on the inside. >> Okay, >> even though my interaction with the seller was a little awkward, I will say it looks like she knows how to cook. >> It does not look appetizing. I'm sorry. >> I ate this a lot as a kid, so all of this looks fine to me. I'm used to all of this. >> I mean, you tell me what this looks like. >> It kind of looks like testicles. >> Yep. Thank you. [laughter] I didn't want to say it. >> Ball is life. >> All jokes aside, this is a very regional dish. One that you won't find at most standard Vietnamese restaurants due to how timeconuming and labor intensive it is to make. So, normally the way I would eat this is I would take fish sauce and basically just dump it all over this. But since I'm in my car, I really don't want to risk spilling. So, to be safe, I'm just going to dip it in the bag and pray that I don't make a mess. Bada bing, bada boom. Cheers. >> Good. >> Yeah. Do you think I'm going to like it? >> I don't know. >> You've eaten so many times with me. That's the first time you've ever said I don't know. >> So, since it's made with tapioca starch, it's very [music] like gelatinous texture-wise. Flavor-wise, it's filled with pork and shrimp, and then there's green onions and fried onions on top that [music] just tastes good. It's nice and salty. I don't know how else to explain it. I like it. But I also grew up eating this. Cheers. >> [music] >> Normally I have a hard time reading Jim. I think I can read them this [laughter] time. Not a fan. >> Not a fan. I like shrimp. Yep. >> I like pork. I like everything you described, the onions and all that stuff. I don't know. All that combination with that fish sauce and the texture. >> Too strong. >> It's too strong. And it just it's a lot to get down. Like eating that whole thing. >> Yeah. >> A lot to go down and it's in your mouth for a long time. I don't know if that came out well or not. Just not my cup of tea. >> That's fair. I will say these are a bit more gelatinous [music] than I'm used to. As for the actual flavors, I am very, very used to that. I'm very used to [music] how strong they are. So, I'm a fan. What I find cool about this, hypothetically speaking, [music] let's say I moved somewhere for the first time, my mom wasn't nearby or whatever it is, I would be able to get this from someone's house. That part is cool. I feel like we're going to have different answers to the next question I'm going to ask, but I'm going to ask it anyways. I think this [music] was worth the risk. >> What about you, Jim? >> No, [laughter] >> that's okay. [music] I appreciate you trying food. Even though you were a little shocked by it because I asked you to. >> Yeah, >> I am a little bit nervous now since you didn't like this. Mostly because the next thing we're going to eat. Personally, I don't think should be purchasable on Facebook Marketplace. For some reason, there are so many seafood boils listed for sale, which feels wrong on so many levels, but we're getting it anyways. So, we've just entered the neighborhood of the next to Facebook seller, and I am progressively getting more nervous. What are your thoughts, Jim? >> Yeah, I don't like this. I have a friend who needs seafood if he can't see the ocean. And we're buying it from a random neighborhood. >> The house is up here to the right. So, I'm going to go get the food, I guess. >> Here we go. Wish me luck. There he goes. Oh, I'm nervous. So, Dylan has uh rang the doorbell. No one's answering. >> Am I getting ghosted? There's cars parked out front. Okay, she read my message on Facebook, so I guess she's home. Hello. >> Hey. >> Now, this is where things get a little weird. As y'all can see, the front door just shut and I don't have a seafood boil in my hands. So, she's here. She took my money, said it was going to be a few minutes. She could at this point just not open the door again, and I'd be screwed. But uh I guess I'll just wait out here for a few more minutes. The money's gone. So unfortunately those couple of minutes did turn into 30 to 40 minutes. Jim thought we'd [music] been bamboozled and I was starting to agree. But then Awesome. Thank you so much. Oh, no worries. No worries. Thank you. >> Okay. Appreciate it. No worries. No worries. Thank you. Have a good day. >> Jim, can you believe it? We got it. The seafood boil. Since we had to wait, she also threw in a mini churro cheesecake for free. So, that was very nice. >> That looks good. >> It's time to find out what a $25 seafood boil [music] from Facebook Marketplace looks like. I'm closing my eyes. You tell me how good it looks. It's wrapped in a plastic bag. That's legit, though. That's legit. If you get a seafood boil, it's in a bag. >> Yeah. >> Do you want to do the honor and open it up? Here we go. Wait, that smells really good. That smells really good. Wait, I'm not faking it, guys. What are the odds this is the best thing we eat today? >> I don't know about that. So, in our seafood boil, [music] we have sausages, shrimp, potatoes, and some good oldfashioned corn. [music] This is a pretty standard shrimp seafood boil. Everything about it looks a lot more appetizing than I thought it would. Now that we're done admiring it, I guess it's time to eat. Let's start with the sausage first cuz the shrimp is what scares me. Cheers. >> Hey, that's good. >> It's a little salty for me. [music] >> I like that for me. Right amount of spice, too. >> I'm I'm shocked. Okay. I feel like every bite in this is going to be a surprise. >> So far so good. What's next? >> Potato. Bro, these are so juicy. [music] The amount of seafood juice on these potatoes is insane. [music] Cheers. >> Cheers. I mean, it's going to be hot. Oh, hot and fresh. That's good, though. That is a good potato. It's perfectly cooked. They still have a bite to them, but they're not uber mushy. >> Oh, hot though. >> Temperature hot. >> Why I put the whole thing in my mouth? >> God, you said that. >> It's shrimp time. They [music] still have their shells on them, so things might get a little messy here. Ready to eat? >> Yeah. >> Good. It is surprisingly. >> I am so mind blown right now. Time to try the corn. Dude, what? The corn absorbed all of the seafood liquid. It's just it's absorbed everything. All the spices. Really good. >> Clearly Jim and I were not expecting this in the slightest. Flavor-wise, everything in this shrimp seafood boil is fantastic. Seasoning was great. [music] It's nice and salty. It's got that Cajun flavor. It was spicy, but not super spicy. Just enough to have that really, really good kick. And what I'm the most impressed by is the actual cook on all of the ingredients. The shrimp was nice and tender. It wasn't [music] rubbery. Sausage was great. Potatoes are great. Corn fantastic. You already know what I'm going to ask. Was the seafood boil [music] worth the risk? >> I can't believe I'm saying this, but absolutely yes. [music] >> I agree. So, it's been a few days since Jim and I ate our last Facebook Marketplace meal, and truthfully, it has been very difficult to decide which cook stood out to me the most. Everyone surprised me in some way, shape, or [music] form. However, after a lot of back and forth, I have finally made my decision and I'm [music] outside of their house to pick up another order right now. Hello. Thank you so much. >> Oh, I didn't get your name last time. >> My name is Mary. >> Mary, nice to meet you. >> Nice to meet you. >> This might be surprising, but while a lot of the other Facebook sellers also [music] made fantastic food, the reason I'm here is because I can actually see myself ordering from her very often. The food was simple, delicious, and I think it's really cool that she's starting a food truck since it fills a need for Filipino food near me. So, I'm with Mary. >> I own the Filipino Alameicana [music] food truck um in catering. So, we're going to be located in Banton very soon. [music] So, if you see us, just come and pass by in our food truck and try our pancet egg roll lubia and we have ube. That's the number one right now. >> I love ube. I should have ordered it today, but Well, awesome. Thank you so much.
