Arjun I've been hearing a lot about Hampta Pass since june and july are right around the corner, so I've heard a lot about the scenery changes on this
trek right from the beginning especially as you cross over the pass, so
can you tell me a little more about what's so awesome about this trek? Hampta Pass trek is not a very long trek it's for four or five days trek but
even in this short trek you get terrific scenery changes the moment
first of all the drive up to the jobra start point you're actually climbing
out of Manali and not many people know that from Manali there is a road
behind manali which climbs right on top up to nine thousand feet where you can
look down at manali there's a tiny tiny hamlet it becomes as you go up but
leave aside the drive which is very pretty in any case. From Jobra you get
through to get into this maple forest now where in our country are you going to see maple yeah maple forest and and things that
and then you get that soon after the forest it's not too big and scenery changes immediately you get
into the open grasslands near Chika and then you go up to the Jwara meadows where you have two valleys coming and intersecting and one place so you are right in the middle of this grassy landscape valley from two sides and then you go to
your next camp Balu Ka Ghera which is just touching the snowline see how soon this
is happening yes you're camping at all these
places so you get to the snow line and the first snowline and you can see the
Hampta Pass right in front of you know where you are going and this whole Hampta Pass trek is a very very narrow valley you don't get to see this kind of narrow
valleys on treks because it's a narrow valley that mountains towering on either
side of you you have these lovely meadows which you are walking through and the river flowing right next to you crystal clear waters
and the sound of the river and then the scenery change from because this was the Kullu side of the trek and then once you hit the Hampta Pass and you flip over
to the other side which is the Spiti side so the lush green of Kullu and
the desert of Spitti oh what a contrast trekkers also have a bonus of the Chandratal trek if it is accessible to go Chandratal is a trek I mean people have
heard of this Pangong Lake in Ladakh and frankly to go to Pangong Lake you'll have to spend a lot of time energy and money and there you have
Chandratal which is an equal counterpart to the pangong lake, but that's not as big, but the colors the setting that desert landscape around it and trekkers get to see even
go to Chandratal by doing the Hampta Pass treks. Why wouldn't anyone
want to do the Hampta Pass Trek the scenery changes, Chandratal c'mon
it is a trek to do and not so difficult trek. So I think next time, instead of planning a trip to manali we'd rather just plan it to do Hampta Pass. I wouldn't call it a trip and you got to be a trekker and you're going to be fit to do this to
get these rewards but yes it's a great trek to do.
